In many media assets, specific features appear at portions of a program that users find interesting. These features can be compared with a database of stored objects that commonly appear in media assets to determine the object corresponding to the feature. The context of the object in the media asset then may be determined so that an appropriate action is selected for the system to take.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided herein for playing back indexed conversations based on the presence of other people. When a user asks a query, the system monitors the area, determines the other users in the area, and searches its database for a conversation that addresses the query in consideration of the other users present in the area. The system filters the indexed conversations to find conversations that included all the users present and determines the best matching conversation based on the words of the query as well as the keywords from the conversation. Once the system has determined the best match conversation, the system plays back the conversation to the user.

摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for storing configuration data as a set of master data and override data where one set of configuration data is defined as the master and every other set of configuration data is defined as override configuration data. A media guidance application may generate master configuration data including the most common configuration data used in the geographical region served by the media guidance application, and number of override configurations which contain only those data which differ from the master configuration data for a number of sub-regions of the geographical region. This reduces duplicative configuration data, and the media guidance application need only store one full set of configuration data, namely the master configuration data, and a number of smaller override configurations.

摘要: Systems and methods are described herein for adjusting the priority of media assets scheduled to be recorded to reflect the current behavior and interests of the user. For example, a household with young children may have scheduled recordings for the DVR with a wide variety of television shows of different genres (e.g., Children's Shows, Sports Games, and Crime Procedurals) and as the children grow up, the preference may gradually shift towards other types of shows. As this shift of interest happens over time, it can be difficult or impossible for the user to change the priority of each of the media assets of the scheduled recordings each time the interests of the user changes an incremental amount.

摘要: Systems and methods are described herein for inserting supplemental content into a QAM signal. A unicast QAM signal between a server and a client device for delivery of content is established. The QAM signal has a particular frequency corresponding to the channel on which it will be transmitted to the client device. A request or other signal may be received from the client device requesting that supplemental content be inserted into the QAM signal. A portion of the bandwidth of the QAM signal is allocated for the supplemental content. The supplemental content is transcoded into a supplemental QAM signal in the particular frequency. The supplemental content may be packetized content such as internet protocol-based content and may be retrieved from a server or database. The supplemental QAM signal is then inserted into the unicast QAM signal using the allocated portion of the bandwidth.

A media guidance application may determine a command from a first user to a second user. The media guidance application may compare the command to a set of playback operation commands for a media asset that is currently being played back. The media guidance application may determine that the command is not contained within the set of playback operation commands. In response to determining that the command is not contained within the set of commands, the media guidance application may determine whether the second user executes a desired outcome of the command. And in response to determining that the second user does not execute the desired outcome of the command, the media guidance application may determine whether to modify playback of the media asset.

This may be accomplished by a media guidance application that monitors a voice communication between users. The media guidance application determines that a first user is describing media content. In response to determining that the first user is describing the media content, the media guidance application retrieves media asset viewing history of the first user. The media guidance application determines, based on metadata of each media asset in the media asset viewing history of the first user and the voice communication, a media asset that the first user is describing. The media guidance application determines, based on metadata of the media asset, a segment of the media asset that the first user is describing. The media guidance application generates, for display, an indication of the segment.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided herein for responding to a voice command at a volume level based on a volume level of the voice command. For example, a media guidance application may detect, through a first voice-operated user device of a plurality of voice-operated user devices, a voice command spoken by a user. The media guidance application may determine a first volume level of the voice command. Based on the volume level of the voice command, the media guidance application may determine that a second voice-operated user device of the plurality of voice-operated user devices is closer to the user than any of the other voice-operated user devices. The media guidance application may generate an audible response, through the second voice-operated user device, at a second volume level that is set based on the first volume level of the voice command.
