    摘要: A fluid-powered auxiliary starting system for electric motors is disclosed which includes an accumulator means for supplying an amount of fluid at high pressure to a fluid-operated motor and a clutch of similar device for connecting the output shaft of the fluid-operated motor to transfer rotational torque to the shaft of the prime mover motor to be started. The system may be either hydraulic or pneumatic and may be used to bring one or more electric motors substantially up to spaced before electric power is applied to the motors themselves. The same motor or a hydraulic or pneumatic pump may be used to recharge the accumulator between uses for electric motor starting.

    摘要: A target plane in fixed relationship to an object provides a first triad of three collinear target points which lie on a first line projection and a second triad of target points which lie on a second line projection which is in nonalignment with the first triad. A photo detector image plane obtains images of the target points projected on the image plane through a lens located a fixed distance from the image plane. Simple algebraic manipulation of image plane position coordinates of the images corresponding to the target points provides for the establishment of vector replicas of the position of the target points. The vector replicas, in turn, are sufficient data to provide spatial information about the object including position and oriention information with full six-degrees-of-freedom.

    摘要: An orthogonally related target point array is provided in fixed relationship to an object. A photo detector image plane obtains images of the target points projected through a lens located a fixed distance from the image plane. Simple algebraic manipulation of image plane position coordinates of the images corresponding to the target points provides for the establishment of a vector replica of the target point array. The vector replica, in turn, is sufficient data to provide spatial information about the object including position and orientation information with full six-degrees-of-freedom.

    摘要: A recirculation device for recirculating a selected volume of preheated gas exhausted from a heating chamber in a mixture with fresh air back to the heating chamber. The device comprises a first passageway having an entrance and a pair of exits; a second passageway having a pair of inlets and an outlet; and a third passageway connecting one exit and one inlet. The other exit communicates with a preheated gas exhaust, and the other intake communicates with a source of fresh air. A back pressure damper is secured adjacent the other exit. A manual control assembly is connected to the back pressure damper so that the volume of preheated gas flowing into the preheated gas exhaust may be selectively determined. A mixing damper is secured adjacent the other intake. An automatic temperature dependent control assembly is connected to the mixing damper so that the mixture of preheated gas and fresh air entering the heating chamber is dependent upon the temperature in the heating chamber.

    摘要: A high contact density circular connector capable of receiving, indexing, and fixedly holding a multi-element probe tip used to test the quality of tapered fastener holes. The outer surface of the probe tip has a multiplicity of conductive segments, which are covered by a thin layer of insulation at the end to be inserted into the holes being inspected. When the probe tip is inserted into a hole, capacitors are formed between the conductive segments on the probe tip and the metallic walls of the hole, which can be measured for value and correlated in a computer to disclose hole characteristics such as size, shape, and smoothness. The circular connector is the means by which probe measurements are transferred from the tip into a coaxial cable, for transmission to the electronic processor without molesting the minute capacitance measurements. The connector receives the probe tip, and by means of a key, indexes the angular orientation of the cylindrically shaped probe tip to mate appropriate conductive segments on the probe tip with the connector clips within the body of the circular connector. With the probe tip in place, a compression ring encircling the connector is rotated to draw the connector body and contacts tightly about the probe tip, thereby insuring effective electrical mating and fixed retention of the probe tip in the connector.

A technique collects sample input values to the filter and identifies desired output values from the filter for the collected sample input values. The technique then generates a power spectrum of the collected sample input values and a power spectrum of the identified desired output values. The technique then calculates the difference between the generated power spectra. Finally, the technique identifies coefficients that yield a filter transfer function that closely approximates the calculated differences. A technique identifies coefficients for a finite impulse response filter. The technique collects sample input values for a function and identifies desired output values for the filter for the collected sample input values. The technique then approximates the output values from the input values using a linear fitting technique. Finally, the technique sets the coefficients to values obtained from the linear-fitting technique.

    摘要: The present invention provides a virtual database as well as a method, system, and program product for generating a virtual database. Specifically, under the present invention, Service Data Objects (SDOs) corresponding to a plurality of database tables are provided within a virtual container. Once provided, two or more of the SDOs are interrelated to yield the virtual database (having a Virtual Bounded Persistent Memory). In accordance with the present invention, the database tables can be stored within a single (e.g., conventional) database, or databases. In addition, the virtual database can be generated and removed on-demand. Still yet, the virtual database of the present invention can be queried using standard Structured Query Language (SQL) queries.

In at least one embodiment, the method of controlling includes receiving a first part program at a programmable logic controller (PLC), and storing the first part program in a string array library of a memory portion of the PLC. The method further includes communicating information between the PLC and an operator interface regarding the first part program, and providing a first signal from the PLC to a first port so as to cause the first machine tool to be operated in accordance with the first part program. Also, in at least some embodiments, the PNC system allows for control of multiple machine tools and/or other controlled devices, by way of one or more part programs, and/or for editing of a part program while that program is being executed.

    摘要: A natural language information retrieval (NLIR) system employing a hash table technique to reduce memory requirements and a proxy process module to improve processing speed on multi-processor platforms. The NLIR system includes a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) search engine annex that implements a number of improvements that allow the preexisting natural language processing (NLP) core code module to operate sufficiently fast in a limited-memory environment. The improvements relate to (1) reducing storage requirements, (2) increasing processing speed, (3) improved operation on multi-processor platforms, and (4) a trouble-shooting mechanism. The NLIR system includes three modes of operation. First, during index processing, the NLIR system prepares documents for NLP searching to create a group of searchable documents. Second, during question processing, the NLIR system receives a natural language question and, for each document in the group of searchable documents, computes a document score connoting the likelihood that the document includes an answer to the natural language question. Third, during debugging, the NLIR system receives trouble-shooting requests and returns diagnostic reports, such as a document trace report and a question trace report.
