摘要: An apparatus and method for determining network association status includes a first electronic device having a wireless communication system and a proximity system, and a second electronic device having a wireless communication system and a proximity system. The wireless communication systems of the first and second electronic devices have a communication range therebetween greater than an interaction range between the proximity systems of the first and second electronic devices. The proximity system of one of the first and second electronic devices is configured to interact with the proximity system of the other of the first and second electronic devices to determine proximity between the first and second electronic devices. The communication system of the first electronic device is configured to establish an association status communication with the communication system of the second electronic device after the proximity of the first and second electronic devices has been determined. Further, one of the first and second electronic devices is configured to notify an operator of an association status of the first and second electronic devices.

摘要: Methodologies for determining one or more staged topologies for a communication network, communication networks implementing one or more staged topologies, and systems for determining one or more staged topologies for a communication network are provided. In one embodiment, a method of determining a staged topology for a communication network including a plurality of nodes includes identifying a plurality of topologies comprising different subsets of available communication links among the nodes, associating a connection matrix with each identified topology, establishing one or more sequences of topologies using the identified topologies, multiplying the connection matrices associated with the topologies in each sequence of topologies to obtain a sequenced connection matrix corresponding with each sequence of topologies, multiplying each sequenced connection matrix by a weighting matrix to obtain a total cost matrix corresponding with each sequence of topologies, and selecting one of the sequences of topologies as the staged topology based on the total cost matrices corresponding with each sequence of topologies.

摘要: Systems and/or methods for relaying messages between nodes in a network (e.g. a wireless network) are provided. In accordance with certain exemplary embodiments, substantially simultaneous communications between nodes may be accomplished. At least one secondary message may be piggybacked onto a primary message. Messages in the network may be queued and sent from a transmitter to at least one receiver based at least in part on the signal-to-noise ratio(s) of the receiver nodes with respect to the transmitter. The queuing of the messages may be performed in dependence on a link set that indicates which messages are capable of piggyback communications. Thus, it may be possible to realize a network that reduces collision problems, reduces delays in communications, and/or increases throughput.

摘要: A system and method for electrical charging is disclosed. The electrical charging system comprises a first charging coil and an energy storage device coupled to the first charging coil. The energy charging system further comprises an energy charging station comprising a second charging coil disposed on a movable positioner, wherein the second charging coil is coupleable to an electrical energy source, at least one drive mechanism configured to translate the movable positioned, and a system controller. The system controller is configured to detect an event indicative of a proximity of the first charging coil to the energy charging station, translate the movable positioner such that the second charging coil is substantially aligned with, and closely spaced apart from, the first charging coil to form an electrical transformer, and initiate a charging cycle configured to transfer electrical energy to the at least one energy storage device via the electrical transformer.

摘要: A spread spectrum protocol in a power line communication (PLC) system uses Harmonic Modulation (HM) as true spread spectrum modulation made up of a plurality of modulated tones spaced in frequency with equal distance between adjacent tones. The protocol incorporates the following modes:"Conventional"--Master/Slave relation of meters to a common hub."Leap Frog"--performing data relay through locally elected/designated meters for relay to a central hub or a distributed set of concentrators."Alarm Channel"--reserving an HM signal set for meters to telemeter their configuration in a subnetwork after a power distribution network reconfiguration."Probing"--using HM polling to diagnose the location of a feeder fault."Derived Timing"--master derived timing for inbound message framing."Rate Adapting"--allocating a mix of number of HM channels to the outbound/inbound ratio according to message traffic control requirements and power line distribution topology."Priority/Noise Based Adapting"--allocating a different mix of number of HM channels to the outbound/inbound ratio based on message priority or noise conditions.

摘要: A method of prioritizing messages on a Local Area Network comprises receiving a digitized incoming message, comparing a message signature of the incoming message with a stored priority message signature, passing non-priority messages to a standard Ethernet protocol stack for processing, storing priority messages temporarily, preventing priority messages from being processed in the standard Ethernet protocol stack, and handling priority messages using a simplified protocol stack designed to process a specific data packet type. This method may be performed by an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) inserted between an Ethernet PHY layer and Ethernet MAC layer on a Network Interface Card of a host device. In particular, automated machinery control systems using the Ethernet protocol for networking are intended to benefit from the prioritizing method and implementation.
