摘要： A suture package includes a first part or base having an outer surface, an inner surface, and a plurality of openings extending between the outer and inner surfaces, and a second part or lid having an outer surface, an inner surface, and a plurality of posts projecting from the inner surface. The suture package has a closed configuration in which the inner surface of the lid opposes the inner surface of the base with distal ends of the posts engaging the inner surface of the base at locations that are offset from and adjacent the plurality of openings extending through the base. The package includes a hinge interconnecting the lid and the base for opening and closing the suture package. Suture winding posts on a fixture are passable through the base openings for winding at least one suture around the suture winding posts for positioning the at least one suture on the base.

摘要： A novel method and apparatus for riveting a two-piece suture tray package. A two-piece suture tray assembly is provided having a top member and a bottom member. The top member has a top and a bottom, and plurality of rivet members extending down from the bottom of the top member. The rivet members have free ends. The bottom member has a top and a flat bottom surface, and a plurality of rivet receiving openings extending therethrough. A counterbore surrounds each rivet receiving opening in the flat bottom surface. An ultrasonic riveting apparatus is provided having a clamp member with a cavity, and an ultrasonic horn member having a flat bottom moveably mounted in the cavity. The assembly is mounted in the riveting apparatus and engaged by the clamp member. The flat bottom of the horn member engages the free ends of the rivet members, and when energized by an ultrasonic generator, causes the free ends of the rivet members to deform into the counterbores, such that the free ends are flat and in alignment with the bottom surface of the bottom member.

摘要： A foldable package for an endoscopic loop and cannula assembly. The package has a central panel having a pair of opposed major sides and a pair of opposed minor sides. The central panel also has a top tab extending from the top, minor side for retaining a suture loop. At least one extension panel is foldably connected to the bottom minor side of the central panel. A bottom tab is foldably connected to the bottom-most extension panel for retaining the proximal end of the cannula. A suture retaining panel is foldably connected to one major side of the central panel along the upper portion of that side. The package closure panel is foldably connected to the other major side of the panel, along the upper portion of the side, substantially opposite to the suture retaining panel. The cannula can be retained by a U-shaped slot in the bottom tab for receiving and engaging the proximal end of the cannula and a U-shaped slot in the suture retaining panel having at least one tab extending from the slot. In an alternate embodiment, at least one bottom extension panel is foldably connected to the bottom of the central panel. The bottom tab panel is then foldably connected to the bottom of the bottom-most extension panel. The package may have an optional cannula retaining panel.

摘要： A package for a plurality of sterile, dry, hydrolyzable, surgical ligating clips. The package comprises a disposable means for holding the ligating clips in a spaced apart relationship. The clips are disposed in the holding means to provide an area around each clip for access thereto. The clips themselves have a pair of legs which are connected at their proximal ends by a narrowed resilient hinge portion. The hinge portion of the clip is more sensitive to hydrolysis than the remainder of the clip. The package also includes means, for example, pre dried paper for permanently removing moisture from the area around the clips. The disposable holding means, the clips, and the moisture removing means are wrapped by impermeable wrappers whereby the final package maintains the resiliency of the hinge portion of the clips over an extended shelf life period. Preferably, the clips are made from polymers of dioxanone although they may be made from other of the absorbable polymer materials such as the homopolymers of glycolide, and lactide or copolymers of the same, or copolymers of either with dioxanone.

摘要： A laminated package comprising two panels of a moisture impervious material such as aluminum foil coated on adjacent interior surfaces with a heat sealable resin such as polypropylene, and peripherally heat sealed at the edge margins with a continuous and substantially bubble free seal to enclose a moisture sensitive suture within the package. The package is highly resistant to penetration by water vapor, and moisture sensitive sutures thus packaged are well protected against degradation by atmospheric moisture diffusing into the package through the heat seal layer during storage.

The disk has circumferential grooves for receiving a suture. The machine has a block slidably mounted to the machine for receiving a needle and transporting it to a motion device. The motion device moves the needle to a package on a packaging machine. Rotation of the package by the packaging machine causes the suture to move out of the grooves and into the package.
