Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving downlink control information in a mobile communication system supporting an uplink packet data service are provided. To transmit packet data in an HARQ mobile communication system, a second transceiver receives an RG as rate control information from a first transceiver. The second transceiver sets the allowed maximum data rate of an HARQ process to which the RG is applied to the allowed maximum data rate of an HARQ process previous to the HARQ process, if the RG indicates hold. The second transceiver transmits packet data within the set allowed maximum data rate to the first transceiver.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates beyond 4th-generation (4G) communication system such as long term evolution (LTE). Next generation of wireless cellular operation is expected to be deployed in higher frequency above 6 GHz (eg. 10 GHz˜100 GHz, also called mmWave and/or cmWave) due to availability of large amount of spectrum bandwidths. The physical layer of wireless cellular system in both DL and UL operating in mmWave/cmWave would be based on new air-interface different from that of LTE-A air-interface because the radio characteristics is different for mmWave/cmWave bands. The wireless system deployed in mmWave/cmWave system is expected to employ DL beam sweeping on broadcast control information to provide cell coverage to the UE which would result in excessive signaling overhead.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus method are provided for transmitting uplink information including acknowledgement information in a wireless communication system. The method includes determining whether transmission of acknowledgement information overlaps with transmission of uplink data in a time domain; multiplexing the uplink data and the acknowledgement information, in case that the transmission of the acknowledgement information overlaps with the transmission of the uplink data in the time domain; and transmitting the multiplexed uplink data and acknowledgement information to a base station. The acknowledgement information is located adjacent to a pilot for the uplink data, and the pilot is used for demodulation of the uplink data.

The method includes coding, by a terminal, uplink data and the acknowledgement information by using different coding schemes respectively; multiplexing, by the terminal, the coded uplink data and the coded acknowledgement information into the uplink information; and transmitting, by the terminal, the uplink information using resources. At least a portion of the uplink data is transmitted based on a first resource and the acknowledgement information is transmitted based on a second resource. The first resource and the second resource are adjacent to each other with respect to a time domain and a frequency domain. The acknowledgement information is located immediately adjacent to a pilot for the uplink data, and the pilot is used for demodulation of the uplink data.

Abstract: A paging apparatus and method in a mobile communication system providing an MBMS (Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service). In the mobile communication system, to page a UE for a first service through a primary carrier during a second service in progress through a secondary carrier, a PICH (Paging Indication Channel) transmitter in a Node B transmits paging indication information to the UE through the primary carrier by oscillating the primary carrier as a transmission frequency. A PCH (Paging Channel) transmitter transmits paging information to the UE through the primary carrier or the secondary carrier by oscillating the primary carrier or the secondary carrier as the transmission frequency under a predetermined control. A PBMSCH (Physical Broadcast Multicast Shared Channel) transmitter transmits data of the second service through the secondary carrier by oscillating the secondary carrier as the transmission frequency. A controller controls the primary carrier or the secondary carrier to be oscillated as the transmission frequency of the PCH transmitter if the paging indication information indicates paging.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for communication between a UE and a node B in a communication system. The UE generates a media access control protocol data unit (MAC PDU) comprising at least one media access control service data unit (MAC SDU) and at least one field related to an amount of data. Each of the at least one field related to the amount of data corresponds to a respective identifier, and the at least one field related to the amount of data is placed prior to the at least one MAC SDU in the MAC PDU. The MAC PDU comprising the at least one MAC SDU and the at least one field related to the amount of data is transmitted to the node B. Grant information is received from the node B. Data is transmitted to the node B based on the grant information.
