Abstract:
An environmentally resistant alloy is disclosed having a transition metal that upon being included in the Ni Cr Al alloy causes no liquid phases below 1310° C., creates over 45% of a gamma phase above 900° C. up to 1310° C., creates over 30% comprised of a gamma prime phase between 450° C. and 600° C., and wherein the gamma prime phase is characterized by a formula (Ni,Co)x(Cr,Al,Mo)y wherein x and y are integers.
Abstract:
Thermally induced graphene sensing circuitry and methods for producing circuits from such thermally induced circuits are presented in conjunction with applications to hydrocarbon exploration and production, and related subterranean activities. The thermally induced graphene circuity advantageously brings electrically interconnections otherwise absent on oilfield service tools, enabling components and tools to become smart.

Abstract:
A consolidated material formed by powder metallurgy is provided. The consolidated material includes particles of a first component consolidated with particles of a second component. The first component is a transition metal selected from group 4, group 5, group 6, or group 7 of the periodic table of the elements, or an alloy thereof. The second component is a solid lubricant. Also provided is a method of making the consolidated material and articles made from the consolidated material.
Abstract:
A technique includes providing a tool to be deployed in a well to perform a downhole function. The downhole function requires a minimum structural integrity for an element of the tool. The technique includes forming at least part of the element from a ferrous alloy and charging the alloy with hydrogen cause the element to be more prone to cracking than before the hydrogen charging.
Abstract:
A material composition may include one or more polymeric materials. The material composition may also include one or more inorganic particles comprising oxides, carbonates, sulfides, or any combination thereof. Further, the material composition may include one or more metal particles that produce a detectable change in an electrical property or an optical property based on a reaction with at least one of H2O, CO2, or H2S. The one or more inorganic particles and the one or more metal particles may be dispersed within the one or more polymeric materials.
Abstract:
A system may include a fluid sealing component having a body comprising a carbon-rich material comprising a non-conductive carbon region. The carbon-rich material includes one or more treated carbon regions. The one or more treated carbon regions include an electrically conductive material. A sheet electrical resistance of the one or more treated carbon regions is less than a sheet electrical resistance of the non-conductive carbon region.
Abstract:
A system may include a substrate and a coating deposited onto a surface of the substrate. The coating includes a carbon rich layer deposited on the substrate. The carbon rich layer is also characterized by a first carbon content including sp2 carbon and sp3 carbon. Further, the carbon rich layer includes one or more treated carbon regions. The one or more treated carbon regions possess an electrically conductive carbon material having a second carbon content including sp2 carbon and sp3 carbon. The second carbon content includes more sp2 carbon than the first carbon content, and may be pre-arranged and interconnected to produce an electrical circuitry with a pluralities of sensing abilities. The formed smart coating may be preferentially produced on a hard diamond-like carbon coating, such as a low friction and anti-scaling coating.
Abstract:
Cast alloys comprising 20 to 35 wt. % nickel; 25% to 42.5 wt. % chromium; 1.5 to 2.5 wt. % carbon; 0.5 to 2.0 wt. % manganese; 0.25 to 2.0 wt. % silicon; 0 to 1.5 wt. % aluminum; 0 to 0.5 wt. % titanium, niobium, tantalum combined, 0 to 1 wt. % copper, other residual elements up to 0.5 wt. %, and iron to bring the total percentage to 100 wt. %, are described. The cast alloys can be used to form components for mixers, turbines and pumps, such as impellers, diffusers, and spacers, or for fracking operations as seats or flow diverters, as well as other oil and gas or energy industry components. In some applications, the cast alloys are custom made for downhole electro submersible pump applications.
