    Abstract: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) (200, 300, 400, 700, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500) can include a central body (202, 302, 402, 702, 802, 1002, 1202, 1502), a plurality of rotors, and a plurality of arms (204, 306, 406, 706, 806, 1006, 1206, 1506) extending from the central body (202, 302, 402, 702, 802, 1002, 1202, 1502), where each arm of the plurality of arms (204, 306, 406, 706, 806, 1006, 1206, 1506) is configured to support one or more of the plurality of rotors. The UAV may include at least one sensor (208, 318, 418, 718, 818, 822, 1022, 1218, 1222, 1518) located on the UAV (200, 300, 400, 700, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500) outside of a keep-out zone, where the keep-out zone is defined at least in part by (1) a plurality of rotor disks, a rotor disk of the plurality of rotor disks for each of the plurality of rotors, each rotor disk corresponding to an area that is swept by one or more rotor blades (206, 308, 408, 708, 808, 1008, 1208, 1508) of a corresponding rotor when the rotor blades (206, 308, 408, 708, 808, 1008, 1208, 1508) are spun, and (2) a shape that is formed by adjoining respective centers of adjacent rotor disks.

    Abstract: A system includes an optical element configured to separate light into a first light beam and a second light beam, a first lens module configured to focus the first light beam, a second lens module configured to focus the second light beam, a first sensor configured to capture a first image from the first light beam focused by the first lens module onto the first sensor, a second sensor configured to capture a second image from the second light beam focused by the second lens module onto the second sensor, and one or more processors configured to generate a combined image based on the first image and the second image. The first image has a first field of view and the second image has a second field of view different from the first field of view.

    Abstract: An image processing method includes obtaining an acquired image captured by an image acquisition device and obtaining vibration information associated with the acquired image and generated while the image acquisition device capturing the acquired image. The vibration information includes an angle of vibration. The method further includes performing a distortion correction to the acquired image to obtain a distortion-corrected image based upon the vibration information and a preset distortion correction parameter, and determining a target image from the distortion-corrected image based upon the vibration information.

    Abstract: A system for image demosaicing and methods for manufacturing and using same. The image demosaicing system includes a lens, a mosaicing filter, an image sensor array and a processing module. The processing module is configured to perform adaptive demosaicing on a mosaiced image that was generated from sensed light that passed through the lens and mosaicing filter. The method of image demosaicing comprises interpolating values of unknown red, green and blue pixels in a horizontal and vertical direction and adaptively selecting one of the interpolation results for each pixel. The disclosed system and method provide for high quality image processing while operating at various Signal to Noise Ratios (SNRs) and require minimal computational time and overhead.

    Abstract: Systems for automatic white balancing (AWB) of a digital image and methods for making and using same. In response to a white balancing trigger, the relative positions of an image sensor and a reference region for white balancing are automatically adjusted such that the image sensor can acquire an image of the reference region. A white balance parameter reflecting the color temperature of the illuminating source is then computed and used to perform white balancing so as to remove color casts. The position of the reference region can be pre-recorded or scanned-for by the image sensor. The reference region can be rendered mobile so that it can be positioned within the image sensor's field-of-vision. The imaging systems can further include a gimbal that enables the image sensor to rotate about one or more axes. The present systems and methods are suitable for use, for example, by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
