Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for indicating the configuration of a subframe of a backhaul between a relay node and a base station. In one aspect there is provided a method. The method may include generating an indication of a configuration of a subframe of at least one of an uplink and a downlink of a backhaul and sending the indication to a relay node to configure transmission at the relay node. Related apparatus, systems, methods, and articles are also described.

Disclosed are apparatuses, methods and computer program instructions which receive or detect an in-device coexistence interference condition change in a user equipment equipped with a plurality of transceivers, send an indication of the in-device coexistence interference condition change to an access point and receive a media access control element configured for muting/unmuting at least one of a plurality of transceivers from the access point. The condition of in-device coexistence interference relates to interference among transceivers such as a long term evolution advanced transceiver and a Bluetooth transceiver in the same user equipment. The media access control element can be configured to either promote a measurement gap pause or short discontinuous transmission during a condition of in-device coexistence interference.

There is provided a mechanism for controlling communications conducted via different frequency bands or communication spectrums. When a communication via a first communication path, for example an unlicensed or white space communication spectrum, is to be established, e.g. for offloading traffic from a second communication path, for example a licensed cellular communication spectrum, a preamble transmission command is generated and transmitted from a communication network control element, such as an eNB, via the second communication path to a communication element, such as a UE. By means of the preamble transmission command, the transmission of a preamble signal by the receiving communication element on the first communication path with predetermined communication resources is triggered. Based on a receipt or non-receipt of the preamble signal via the first communication path, the communication network control element is able to determine that the communication element can establish a connection on the first communication path, for example the unlicensed or white space communication spectrum.

The specification and drawings present a new method, apparatus and software related product (e.g., a computer readable memory) for implementing enhanced and flexible radio aperiodic measurements, e.g., on an unlicensed band in LTE wireless systems and providing effective and timely reporting. A UE may receive from a wireless network an aperiodic measurement request to measure a special measurement object (e.g., a neighbor cell) specified in the aperiodic measurement request, e.g., in an unlicensed band. In response to the aperiodic measurement request, the UE may perform the measurement of the special management object until a further instruction from the wireless network or for a determined period of time. Inter-frequency measurements may be performed during the measurement gap determined from the aperiodic measurement request.
Abstract:
Various methods for managing device-to-device interference are provided. One example method includes receiving an expected interference level for a resource block, where the expected interference level is represented by data indicative of interference associated with the resource block due to device-to-device communications using the resource block. The example method further includes selecting the resource block for a device-to-device communications session based at least in part on the expected interference level for the resource block. Similar and related example methods and example apparatuses are also provided.

There is provided a mechanism for conducting power control in a time division based communication. Subframes of a frame structure of the time division based communication are classified into at two or more classification sets, each classification set comprising at least one subframe. For each of the classification sets, power control related parameters are selected in accordance with the interference on the respective subframes. On the basis of the selected power control related parameters, a power control parameter set is configured defining a power control setting for each subframe of the frame structure. A UE receiving the power control parameter set applies the power control related parameters in the power control.

A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for generating a downlink synchronization group utilized during a discontinuous transmission in an unlicensed band. A method and apparatus may determine a carrier(s) providing a signal(s) enabling timing and frequency tracking a downlink carrier(s) within a downlink synchronization group to devices responsive to discontinuous transmission via a medium(s) of an unlicensed band on a secondary component carrier. The medium(s) previously utilized to provide content to a device(s). The method and apparatus may also provide an indication of the carrier(s) to the device notifying the device that information of the signal is receivable via the carrier on the unlicensed band. The method and apparatus may also send the signal(s) to the device via the carrier enabling the device to obtain timing and frequency information.

The present invention proposes methods in relation to providing for random access in a local area network environment, and encompasses, from an eNB perspective, defining (S1) a set of N dedicated preambles among a total number X of preambles, allocating (S4) a dedicated preamble to a terminal responsive to a connection request received from said terminal, and identifying (S9) said terminal when requesting random access, based on the allocated dedicated preamble contained in a random access request received. From a UE perspective, it encompasses requesting (S3) a connection to be established with a network transceiver device, receiving (S5) information on a dedicated preamble being allocated, and issuing (S8) a random access request to said network transceiver device which includes the allocated dedicated preamble. The invention allows flexible disabling/enabling of cross-carrier scheduling in carrier-aggregated wireless data transmission. In response to detecting a predetermined disabling indication of cross-carrier scheduling of received carrier aggregated wireless data transmission, the disabling indication targeting subframes allocated to uplink in a first component carrier transmitted from a cross-carrier scheduling cell and to downlink in a second component carrier transmitted from a cross-carrier scheduled cell: a downlink control region in the targeted subframes in the second component carrier is monitored for uplink/downlink grants; and in response to detecting an uplink/downlink grant, the detected uplink/downlink grant is utilized in uplink/downlink scheduling of the targeted subframe in the second component carrier.
