Abstract: An example circuit includes a loop controller having current phase inputs, a feedback input, a control loop output and a transient event output. The feedback input is adapted to be coupled to an output terminal of a multi-phase power stage. A PWM circuit has a blanking input, a control input and a PWM output, the control input coupled to the control loop output. A phase management circuit has a transient detect input, a PWM input, a blanking output and phase outputs. The transient detect input is coupled to the transient event output. The PWM input is coupled to the PWM output and the blanking output is coupled to the blanking input. Each of the phase outputs is adapted to be coupled to a respective phase of the multi-phase power stage. The phase management circuit is configured to provide a blanking control signal representative of a variable blanking time.

Abstract: A power stage controller includes: a multi-phase pulse control circuit; a current sense circuit; a comparator; an error amplifier; and a mode controller. The mode controller includes a mode controller input and a summation circuit. The summation circuit has a first summation circuit input, a second summation circuit input and a summation circuit output, the first summation circuit input is coupled to the error amplifier output, and the summation circuit output is coupled to the first comparator input. The mode controller is configured to: select one of a main controller mode or a secondary controller mode responsive to a mode control voltage at the mode controller input; bypass the summation circuit responsive to selection of the main controller mode; and enable the summation circuit responsive to selection of the secondary controller mode.

The integrated circuit further includes a resistance circuit. In an example, the resistance circuit includes a resistor coupled between the input pin and a first node, a first switch coupled between the first node and a reference voltage pin, and a second switch coupled between the first node and a ground pin.

Abstract: A multiphase power controller that generates a set of switching control signals to drive a set of power stages. The set of power stages generates an output that drives a load. The multiphase power controller includes a summer to generate an equivalent voltage representative of a sum of inductor currents from each of an inductor in the set of power stages. A threshold generation circuit generates a set of threshold signals in response to a set of control outputs and a reference. A set of comparators generates the set of control outputs, in response to the equivalent voltage and the set of threshold signals. A state machine generates a set of phase control signals in response to the set of control outputs. The set of control outputs changes a number of the set of switching control signals.
