摘要: A driving method for an optical printer and an optical printer having a liquid-crystal light switching element including a ferroelectric liquid crystal sandwiched between a pair of plates provided with electrodes on adjacent surfaces thereof. The liquid-crystal light switching element is disposed between a light source and a movable photosensitive surface and controlled so as to at least one of transmit and block light from the light source to the photosensitive surface for enabling a printing operation. Voltages v.sub.1 and v.sub.2 are applied to the liquid-crystal switching element substantially in accordance with the equation ##EQU1## and the intensity of light from the light source incident on the liquid-crystal switching element is controlled so that incident light intensity during a period T.sub.2 is weaker than the incident light intensity during a period T.sub.1, where t.sub.0, t.sub.1, t.sub.2 and t.sub.3 represents times, T.sub.1 (=t.sub.1 -t.sub.0) is the period during which a printing operation is effected, T.sub.2 (=t.sub.3 -t.sub.2) is the period during which the photosensitive surface moves, v.sub.1 is the voltage which is applied to the liquid-crystal switching element during the period T.sub.1, and v.sub.2 is the voltage which is applied to the liquid-crystal switching element during the period T.sub.2.

摘要: In an electrostatic printing apparatus, the residual image phenomenon conspicuously observed at low density printing can be eliminated while photo-deterioration of the photosensitive body is being suppressed to a minimum in a high speed printing process. A charging unit, a writing light source, a developing unit, a transfer unit, a first erase lamp, an AC discharging unit and a second erase lamp are arranged around a photosensitive drum. Therein, the light intensity of the erase lamp is strengthened when the density of a printed image is light and is weakened when the density of the printed image is dark. That is, by changing the light intensity of the erase lamps corresponding to a developing bias, the residual image phenomenon can be eliminated while suppressing deterioration of the photosensitive drum to a minimum.

摘要: In order to edit print information, the print information from a memory may be printed on a sheet by a printing arrangement and the sheet transported to a window at which the sheet is supported so that it is aligned with an editing unit and an editing display. Editing data are then input via the editing unit and are displayed by the editing display so that the editing data appear in the window at the same position as the part of the print information to be edited. At the same time the information in the memory may be changed in accordance with the editing. In this way, the print information can be displayed clearly, and the editing data input quickly. The sheet may be paper but may also be a composite film having low molecular weight liquid crystal material dispersed in high molecular weight material such as high molecular weight liquid crystal material.

摘要: A potential of a reference potential measure section is set to a desired value of a potential of a drum surface (charge receptive surface) such that a potential of the reference potential measure section and a potential of the charge receptive surface are detected by a surface potential detect device during a rotation of the drum to obtain a difference between the values of the measured potential, so that an operation of a charger is controlled to be reduced to zero, thereby changing the potential of the charge receptive surface. This enables the surface potential to be precisely controlled without necessitating a frequent calibration of the surface potential detect device. In addition, the potential of the reference potential measure section is appropriately set depending on a develop condition so as to prevent a toner, when the portion passes a developer at a position over a circumferential area of the drum, from being fixed thereonto. Moreover, a potential of the reference potential detect section and a potential of the charge receptive surface are detected by use of the surface potential detect device so as to examine a difference therebetween and a distribution thereof, which enables a change as well as an irregular variation of the potential due to deterioration of the charge receptive surface to be analyzed. Based on the analysis, it is possible to detect the deterioration of the photoconductive body as the charge receptive surface so as to evaluate the life thereof. Furthermore, when an information processing system is configured by combining a computer with an electrostatic recording apparatus according to the present invention, there can be provided a picture quality control system effecting a precise control depending on a characteristic of the photoconductive body.

摘要: A transport roll 1 consists of a metal roll 3 of 40 mm in diameter covered with a conductive PFA tube 2 of 10.sup.10 .OMEGA.cm in volume resistivity and 200 .mu.m in thickness. A DC voltage source 4 is connected to the metal roll. A sheet of paper 5 bearing toner images 6 and 7 on both sides thereof receives a drive force from a paper drive roll, and turns with the movement of the paper. The DC voltage source produces voltage VB1 of the same polarity as the charging polarity (positive) of the toner image 6 being in contact with the transport roll. The voltage VB1 is optimumly controlled so as to prevent the transport roll from being soiled with toner.

摘要: A printing and binding system and method utilize an electrophotographic apparatus for performing a printing operation so that a plurality of booklets can be simultaneously printed and bound even if the quantity to be printed is not large. Rolled paper is cut in a pre-treatment portion i a direction in which the rolled paper is supplied, into sizes each corresponding to a desired booklet so as to prepare cut paper sheets, then the same pages of booklets of a number which can be printed are simultaneously printed on the cut paper sheets in a printing portion, and then the next pages of the booklets are sequentially printed on the next cut paper sheets. After the pages of a plurality of booklets which can be printed simultaneously have been printed, the printed paper sheets for a plurality of the booklets are conveyed to a post-treatment portion so as to be cut into individual booklets so that desired booklets are bound. If the required number of the booklets has not been bound, the aforesaid steps are repeated. The system thus constituted enables a plurality of booklets to be printed simultaneously and also enables the time taken to bound the booklets to be shortened.

摘要: A driving method is provided for an electrooptical device having scanning and signal electrodes arranged in a matrix with a plurality of picture elements formed in association with intersections of the electrodes. Voltages of high-frequency pulses are applied to both the scanning and signal electrodes, and a DC voltage pulse for setting the optical state of the electrooptical material is applied to the picture elements during a selected period for the scanning electrodes, while a high-frequency AC voltage for holding the previously set optical state of the electrooptical material is applied to the picture elements during a non-selected period for the scanning electrodes. A circuit is also provided for carrying out the method, and an electrooptical apparatus is provided employing the electrooptical device described above.
