An object of the present invention is to make it possible to closely examine a specific region by making most use of an advantage of a compound-eye capsule endoscope that picks up images of an interior of a body cavity forward and backward in a movement direction of a capsule casing. By disposing imaging devices (12a)(12b) of respective imaging blocks in a capsule casing (16) while having a relationship between arrangement directions of the imaging devices (12a)(12b), e.g., making upward and downward directions U and D coincident with each other, a correspondence/positional relationship between the images picked up by the imaging devices (12a)(12b) is clear when the specific region such as an affected part in the body cavity is to be observed using the respective images forward and backward in the movement direction, thereby facilitating close examination on the specific region using the both images.
