    摘要: A Schmidt circuit comprises a first series circuit including an impedance device and a series connection of a first and second MOS field effect transistors, and a second series circuit including a series connection of a third and fourth MOS field effect transistors. The first series circuit is connected between a voltage supply and the ground and the second series circuit is connected between the voltage supply and the junction of the first and second MOS field effect transistors. The gates, as commonly connected, of the first and second MOS field effect transistors are supplied with an input voltage, and the junction of the impedance device and the first MOS field effect transistor is connected to the gate of the third MOS field effect transistor, so that an output voltage is withdrawn therefrom.

    摘要: This invention discloses a liquid crystal display device including a liquid crystal cell having two substrates, arranged substantially parallel to each other, and having electrodes on their opposing surfaces, and a liquid crystal composition held between the substrates, first and second polarizers arranged at both sides of the liquid crystal cell, a first optical delay plate arranged between the liquid crystal cell and the second polarizer, and a second optical delay plate arranged between the first optical delay plate and the second polarizer, wherein liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal composition are arranged in twisted mode from a second polarizer side to a first polarizer side, the first and second optical delay plates are arranged such that optical axes thereof cross to form an acute angle, and a twist direction of the liquid crystal molecules in the state of twisted mode is the same as a direction from the optical axis of the second optical delay plate toward the first optical delay plate shifted by the acute angle. A display performed by the liquid crystal display device of this invention is a high-contrast, bright, and achromatic b/w display. The liquid crystal display device of this invention has a wide viewing angle. The liquid crystal display device of this invention is inexpensive.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display device includes an array substrate and a counter substrate, a liquid crystal cell held between the substrates 300 and containing liquid crystal molecules arranged to have an alignment corresponding to alignment properties of inner surfaces of the substrates, first and second polarizing plates having individual polarization axes and mounted on outer surfaces of the first and second substrates, respectively, a pixel electrode and counter electrode formed on the array substrate to apply a lateral electric field substantially parallel to the first and second substrate into the liquid crystal cell. The liquid crystal display device controls the alignment of the liquid crystal molecules by the lateral electric field between the pixel and counter electrodes. Particularly, in the liquid crystal display device, an optical retardation plate is interposed at least between the first polarizing plate and the array substrate, and an optical axis and retardation value of the optical retardation plate are determined to compensate for twisting of the alignment of the liquid crystal molecules caused upon application of the lateral electric field.

    摘要: The present invention discloses a liquid crystal display device including a liquid crystal cell, the liquid crystal cell including two substrates which are arranged substantially parallel to each other and have electrodes on opposing surfaces thereof, and a liquid crystal composition held between the substrates such that the liquid crystal molecules are arranged in a twisted mode, first and second polarizers arranged at both sides of the liquid crystal cell, and first and second optical delay plates arranged between the liquid crystal cell and the second polarizer, wherein assuming that a retardation value of the liquid crystal cell is given by:R.sub.0 =.DELTA.n.multidot.d.multidot.cos.sup.2 .theta.where .DELTA.n is the optical anisotropy of the liquid crystal composition, d is the distance between the two substrates in the liquid crystal cell, and .theta. is the tilt angle of the liquid crystal composition, a total of the retardation values of the first and second optical delay plates is R.sub.0 .times.0.8 to R.sub.0 .times.1.2. A display obtained by the liquid crystal display device of this invention is a high-contrast, bright, and achromatic b/w display. The liquid crystal display device of this invention has a wide viewing angle and is inexpensive.
