    摘要: An internal combustion engine is equipped with a valve timing controller capable of minimizing the electric power consumption and frictional wear of elements. The valve timing controller can vary the valve timing of valves. A camshaft is moved axially forwardly or rearwardly by electrically energizing an outer solenoid clutch or a brake releasing solenoid, respectively. An axial movement of the camshaft results in a change in valve timing. With the exception of a transient period during which the valve timing is being varied, both the brake releasing solenoid and the outer clutch are electrically deenergized to thereby reduce the electric power consumption, and both of them are maintained out of contact with a displaceable disc 13 to thereby reduce frictional wear thereof.

    摘要: A V-shaped engine has an inlet passage and an outlet passage for coolant. The inlet passage for introducing coolant to a water pump mounted to a front face of a cylinder block of the engine is arranged vertically in a space between a right bank and a left bank. The outlet passage is so arranged as to pass between a timing belt idler provided forwardly of the space between the right bank and the left bank and the inlet passage. This arrangement of the inlet passage and the outlet passage enables the V-shaped engine to be made compact.

The organic electroluminescent element has a composition in which a plurality of light-emitting units, including at least one organic light-emitting layer, are laminated between a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and in which a linking layer is held between the respective light-emitting units. The linking layer is formed by laminating, in succession from the positive electrode side, an electron generating/transport section, an intermediate layer, and a hole generating/transport section, which contain at least one metal selected from a group consisting of an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, rare earth metal, alloy of these metals, and compound of these metals. Preferably the intermediate layer contains an electrical insulating non-semiconductive substance having a specific resistance which is between 1.0×102 Ω·cm and 1.0×109 Ω·cm.

In the disclosed disk clamping mechanism, the flexible thin optical disk is sandwiched between the turntable and the clamper such that the turntable and the clamper rotate the flexible thin optical member sandwiched in-between.
