    摘要: An infinitely variable speed ratio planetary ball transmission comprising planetary members in rolling contact with moveable inner and outer races and a constant speed accessory drive system utilizing the transmission. The transmission is infinitely variable between ratios of approximately 0.3 and 1.0. A transmission input shaft is connected to a prime mover such as a vehicle engine crankshaft by a drive belt. The transmission comprises at least one output shaft that is coaxial with the input shaft. An output pulley is attached to the output shaft. A belt is engaged between the output pulley and various engine accessories. A second end of the transmission output shaft may be directly coupled to an engine accessory mounted on the transmission. An included control system senses a crankshaft speed. A processor analyses the crankshaft speed and accordingly adjusts the transmission ratio using a stepper motor connected to a worm drive to maintain a constant output speed regardless of crankshaft speed.

    摘要: Engine accessory drives are used with internal combustion engines to drive one or more accessories and are conventionally driven off a front end drive assembly. However, driving the accessories off the front end drive assembly has implications in respect of both increased engine noise and extended engine length. An engine accessory drive in accordance with this invention reduces engine noise and engine length. An engine accessory drive for transmitting a force between a first end (2) and a second end (3) of an engine (1) comprises a primary drive (18) locatable at the first end (2) of the engine.

    摘要: A component fitting structure includes a component fitting hole (25) formed across mated faces between a cylinder head (4) and chain cover (24), and a collar (26) fitted in the component fitting hole through a liquid gasket, a tensioner unit 21a being engaged with the collar. Because the component fitting portion extends across the mated faces the members themselves can be made smaller in size. Further, since the collar can be attached in advance to one of these members before they are mated together, the fitting portion of the component can be easily observed visually. Further, the component can be removed without separating the two members from each other.

    摘要: A belt tensioning device having an improved damping mechanism for damping movements of the pivoted structure rotatably carrying the pulley with respect to the fixed structure. The damping mechanism includes a strap and a ring mounted on their respective fixed and pivoted structures and with respect to one another such that the strap engages the ring with a gripping action sufficient to provide (1) a relatively high resistance to frictional sliding movement between the strap and ring in one direction correspond to the direction of untensioning of the belt with the pulley and (2) a relatively low resistance to frictional sliding movement between the strap and ring in an opposite direction corresponding to the direction of belt tensioning. A spring is included in the mount for enabling the relatively high resistance and relatively low resistance to vary in response to the existence of predetermined vibrations such that the gripping action between strap and ring is relieved sufficient to enable movement therebetween in both directions to take place at substantially reduced resistance levels.
