A catalyst used for trimerization of ethylene into 1-hexene is descrobed, which comprises (i) a specific organometallic complex having a neutral multidentate ligand having a tripod structure, (ii) an alkylaluminoxane, and an optional ingredient selected from: (iii) a halogenated inorganic compound, (iv) a specific alkyl group-containing compound, (v) a combination of a halogenated inorganic compound with a specific alkyl group-containing compound, (vi) an amine compound and/or an amide compound, and (vii) a combination of an amine compound and/or an amide compound with a specific alkyl group-containing compound.

An image forming apparatus executes functional processing according to specific functional processing information stored in a storage unit. The image forming apparatus determines whether any data remains in the storage unit when new functional processing information is set. The image forming apparatus prevents the specific functional processing information stored in the storage unit from being updated based on the new functional processing information if any data remains in the storage unit, and replaces the specific functional processing information stored in the storage unit with the new functional processing information if no data remains in the storage unit.

There is provided a tailored blank article for press forming, the article having an excellent formability and comprising multiple different plates of different thickness, which can evade a break of a low strength plate (or low-thickness plate) due to strength rate-determining is provided in press forming.The tailored blank article for press forming, having an excellent formability and comprising two or more kinds of raw plates, continuously welded together, each having a different tensile strength, is characterized in that a ratio (n1/n2) of a work hardening property value (n1) of a higher tensile strength plate and a work hardening property value (n2) of a lower tensile strength plate is set to be 0.75 or more and 3.8 or less.

An extruded styrene resin foam obtained by extrusion-foaming of a styrene resin and excellent in environmental compatibility and excellent in flame retardant property and thermal insulating property, characterized in that it contains, as a blowing agent, 100 to 10% by weight of at least one of saturated hydrocarbons having 3 to 5 carbons and 0 to 90% by weight of other blowing agent, based on the total amount of the blowing agent, and contains (A) a halogenated flame retardant and (B) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of phosphorus type flame retardants containing nitrogen atom in a molecule, tetrazole compounds, cyanuric acid and derivatives thereof, isocyanuric acid and derivatives thereof, metal borates, and boron oxides.

A commutating type DC circuit breaker arrangement comprising: a vacuum circuit breaker having a movable electrode and stationary electrode; a series circuit of a capacitor, a saturation reactor and a commutating switch which is connected in parallel with the vacuum circuit breaker; and an electrical relay for detecting a predetermined electrode open position at which a sufficient insulating distance between the movable electrode and the stationary electrode is maintained via movement of a predetermined position on an actuating rod for the movable electrode and for closing the commutating switch in response to the detection of the predetermined electrode open position.

A method for manufacturing a retardation film having a suitable retardation using a film casting method but without requiring any special heat-treating process. The post-drying process in the film casting method is divided into three or more chambers, and the tension applied to the film is controlled under the condition that the tension does not exceed a yield value determined based on the amount of solvent content and the temperature of the film in each of the chambers, so that stretch of the film is carried out under the above condition and, if necessary, under the condition that the solvent content is not more than 10%.

Immediately before the second coating is carried out, the second side of the web is charged in unipolarity by corona discharges induced by a high voltage generating unit with an electrode.

A magnetic head supporting device includes a support member for supporting a magnetic head in opposed relationship to a magnetic disk. The support member is formed with an outer peripheral projection to define a recess inside thereof. When the magnetic disk is rotated in proximity to the recess, there is generated a partial vacuum in a space defined between the magnetic disk and the recess to suck the magnetic disk into the recess. A surface of the outer peripheral projection of the support member facing the magnetic disk has a predetermined surface roughness permitting communication of air between inside and outside of the recess and permitting suction of the magnetic disk into the recess due to the partial vacuum during rotation of the magnetic disk at a high speed. With this setting of the surface roughness, the occurrence of dewing and adherence of the disk to the support member can be prevented.
