Abstract:
According to an image processing method, an input value combination is received. The input value combination includes a plurality of input values for a plurality of primary colors and is indicative of image information. The received input value combination is converted into an output value combination that includes a plurality of output values for a plurality of components for printing, the plurality of components for printing including black, the output value for black being smaller than or equal to a value of an allowable black maximum. An image obtained by printing an output value combination, whose value for black being greater than zero (0) and smaller than or equal to the value of the allowable black maximum value, exhibits substantially the same gloss with another image obtained by printing an output value combination, whose output value for black being equal to zero (0).
Abstract:
A monitor calibration method for determining the black point of a monitor display, wherein a solid black display area and a gray display area are displayed on a monitor screen in the form of stripes, for example, so that each display area is sandwiched by the other type of display area. Then, while the brightness of the gray display area is gradually changed, the user signals OK using a mouse device at the point in time that the viewer determines a difference between the two display areas. The input value of the gray display area at that time is fixed and saved as the black point. By arranging the display areas in alternating stripes, even a subtle difference in the two display areas is visually striking. Hence, a very accurate black point can be determined.
Abstract:
An image-reading device includes a reading unit, a displaying unit, a recognition target region setting unit, a recognition target region adding unit, and a character recognizing unit. The recognition target region setting unit sets a recognition target region within the displayed image data to recognize characters. The recognition target region adding unit adds a new recognition target region based on the recognition target region set by the recognition target region setting unit. The character recognizing unit performs character recognition in the recognition target regions.
Abstract:
A recording apparatus has a cartridge installing section including a case which is formed with an opening and which is configured to receive printing fluid cartridges respectively via the opening; a flat plate-shaped lid which has a rotational shaft and which undergoes posture change to a closed posture and an open posture by being rotated around the rotational shaft. The lid has a curved section which is disposed on a side of one end in a widthwise direction along the rotational shaft and which is curved so that the one end is directed to a side of the ending surface of the case in a state in which the lid is in the closed posture; and the curved section is upstanding upwardly from a side of a bottom surface of the case in a state in which the lid is in the open posture.
Abstract:
A printing apparatus includes a printing unit that prints an image on a print sheet with a print agent; a discharging unit; a conveying unit including a conveying path through which a print sheet is conveyed from the printing unit to the discharging unit; a measuring unit provided on the conveying path of the conveying unit to measure each colored area formed by the printing unit that adds the print agent on the print sheet from at least one of a first face and a second face opposite to the first face; an identifying unit that identifies a measurement area satisfying a certain condition from the colored areas; and a measurement control unit that performs the measurement for the identified measurement area and does not perform the measurement for the colored areas that are not identified by the identifying unit.
Abstract:
An image forming device includes a print head that performs a bi-directional printing including a forward print and a reverse print, and a convey-amount determining unit that determines a conveying amount based on a value relating to an amount of offset between a first position on the recording medium at which a first test image is formed in the forward print and a second position at which a second test image is formed in the reverse print. The recording medium is conveyed the conveying amount prior to one of the forward print and the reverse print.
Abstract:
An adjusting portion adjusts values of lightness, chroma, and hue. A change-amount setting portion sets an amount of change for each of lightness, chroma, and hue. A weighting-curve storing portion stores weighting curves for each of lightness, chroma, and hue. A weighting-factor determining portion determines, based on the weighting curves, weighting factors for the values of lightness, chroma, and hue. A specific-color-index determining portion determines a specific color index by multiplying each of the weighting factors determined by the weighting-factor determining portion. An adjustment-amount determining portion determines an adjustment amount by multiplying, by the specific color index, the amount of change set by the change-amount setting portion, and determines adjusted values of lightness, chroma, and hue based on the adjustment amount. An adjusted-color-image obtaining portion obtains an adjusted color image based on the adjusted values.
Abstract:
An ink-jet printer, including: a feeding mechanism which feeds a recording medium in a feeding direction; an ink-jet head which ejects ink onto a surface of the recording medium at a recording position where the ink-jet head faces the recording medium fed by the feeding mechanism in the feeding direction; a pressing device including at least one spur and pressing the surface of the recording medium on a downstream side of the recording position in the feeding direction by bringing at least one of the at least one spur into contact with the surface of the recording medium; and a pressing-position-changing mechanism which selectively realizes one of a plurality of states which are different from each other in at least one pressing position, in the feeding direction, at which the pressing device presses the surface of the recording medium.
Abstract:
An amount of discrepancy between a theoretical paper feeding length and an actual paper feeding length is determined in advance, and a calibration value is determined based on the amount of discrepancy and stored in a ROM, for each of when a sheet of paper is fed while contacted by a sheet supply roller and when the sheet of paper is fed without contacted by the sheet supply roller. When a printing is performed on a sheet of paper, a feeding amount of the sheet of paper is calibrated based on one of the calibration values stored in the ROM.
