Abstract: Processes and systems are provided to enhance the rates of absorption and desorption of hydrogen into and out of a metal hydride composite material as part of a system for storing and/or compressing hydrogen. The rates of absorption and desorption are enhanced by techniques that enhance heat transfer between metal hydride composite material and a heat exchanger. Embodiments include the use of thermally conductive adhesive, grease or solder between the metal hydride composite material and heat exchanger element, snugly wrapping the metal hydride-heat exchanger element assembly with an expanded metal sheath or a flexible wire, and combinations thereof.

Abstract: A method for evaluating and optimizing scale management at a subsurface for improved well performance may include performing multiple first tests, where each first test combines a first fluid with a second fluid, wherein the first fluid comprises a concentration of a scale inhibitor and a chemistry of additional fluid components. The method may also include identifying an optimal mixture of the first fluid among the first tests, where the optimal mixture comprises a minimum concentration of the scale inhibitor that reduces scale deposition. The method may further include performing a second test that combines the first fluid with the scale inhibitor, the second fluid, and rock. The method may also include evaluating a concentration of the scale inhibitor in aqueous phase after a period of time after initiating the second test. The method may further include identifying a target fluid for use in a field operation at the subsurface.

Abstract: An improved reforming process for producing aromatic hydrocarbons is disclosed. The process includes two reformers arranged in parallel flow configuration, with the first reformer being a conventional reformer comprising a catalyst selective for reforming C8+ hydrocarbons to a reformate and the second reformer comprising a catalyst selective for reforming C7− hydrocarbons to a reformate. In certain embodiments, the first reformer catalyst comprises a conventional alumina catalyst and the second reformer catalyst comprises a ZSM-5 catalyst.

Abstract: A selective postsynthetic surface modification process of mesoporous Y zeolite (Meso-Y) is provided. The process results in a thin silica, alumina or aluminosilicate overlayer on the external surface without causing significant pore blockage, which otherwise results in the absence of surfactant. The approach relies on occluded CTAB surfactant in as-synthesized Meso-Y acting as a soft template, which protects internal microporosity and mesoporosity during inorganic overlayer synthesis, by directing its deposition to selectively occur on the external surface. The process is conducted under dry conditions.

Abstract: A method is described for seismic inversion with uncertainty quantification including performing low frequency Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) processes on rock physics models to generate low frequency models (LFMs) of rock properties and training a deep neural network using the low frequency models and synthetic seismograms to generate a trained neural network. Given a seismic dataset, the trained neural network can generate a high frequency rock property model and then broad-band MCMC processes can be performed on the high frequency rock property model for uncertainty quantification. The method is executed by a computer system.
