The upper or lower surface of the first layer is for contact with the upper surface of the second layer, and the orientation of the first or second vectors or the asperities vector relative to the long vector or asperities vector control the friction between the first and second layer, such that in use, the layers are oriented such that friction is reduced between the layers or friction is selectively reduced for only one of lateral or longitudinal movement.

摘要： Disclosed is a compression sock aid device having a left and right double paneled structure hingedly connected to one another, wherein a spring member provides outward bias to facilitate opening of the device and the spreading of sock material placed thereover. Rope handles with gripping portions and associated hook notch closure means are provided, along with friction pads and thumb grips to facilitate the application of compression stockings and tight fitting hosiery onto the leg of the wearer. The hosiery is placed over the device while the spring member and hinged connection enable the opening of the hosiery placed thereon. The device is secured using the rope handle that includes a fastening ball, wherein the rope handle is placed into an opposing hook notch to resist the outward bias of the spring member. The inner panels support the hosiery away from the user's skin while the inner panels slide thereagainst.

摘要： There is provided a sock formed on a circular knitting machine. The sock has a tubular body including a cuff defining an opening to receive the foot of the wearer and includes a toe portion, a foot portion, a heel and a relatively narrow looped tab loop comprising a knit strip integrally knit onto the opening at the top of the tubular body and including opposed ends. The knit strip is folded intermediate the ends to provide a loop having inner and outer layers with open opposed sides, and the ends of the inner and outer layers of the looped tab and connecting the same to the cuff whereby the looped tab extends downwardly therefrom and is adapted to be disposed on the outside of the shoe. The sock knit strip comprises a plurality of knit courses of equal length having opposed selvage ends and the length of the knit courses forming the looped tab are preferably less than one-fourth the length around the opening. The socks may be made in different styles such as a footlet or an over the calf sock having a leg portion merging substantially at the ankle of a wearer. The invention also contemplates a method of knitting a sock having a looped tab knitted to the cuff and adapted to be disposed on the outside of the shoe. The present invention also provides an apparatus for use on a circular knitting machine for forming the looped tabs.

摘要： An easy-on sock having a split opening extending down the middle of the top surface of the sock from the lower leg portion to the toe pocket of the sock is provided. An extension flap, used to close the split, is connected along one edge of the split and extends substantially the full length of the split. Hook and loop closure strips are attached on the free edge of the extension strip and along the other edge of the split to enable the extension flap to be folded over the split and secured to the opposing hook and loop closure strip. In one embodiment, an insert flap is additionally connected to the other edge of the split, opposite the extension flap. A hook and loop type connector is attached to the outer surface of the insert flap and a mating hook and loop type sizing strip is attached to a corresponding location on the inner surface of the extension flap. Thus, the sock may be closely fitted to the foot of the user by first mating the hook and loop type closure strips and/or connectors. In all embodiments there is provided a sock having the ability to cover the split and the person's foot as in a conventional sock, but without the pulling, squeezing and rubbing associated with conventional socks.

The sock includes an elastic sock body and a strip-shaped stiffener sewn to the outer surface of the sock body. The stiffener extends along the front of the sock body on the upper sock portion which surrounds the leg of the wearer, and on the lower sock portion that surrounds the foot of the wearer. The stiffener extends in a loop above the top of the sock body to form a finger-receiving loop that can be used to pull up the sock.
