摘要： A catheter docking system is provided that is easily affixed to a patient and that facilitates the secure connection of an infusion line to an anesthesia-delivering catheter. The system comprises a docking station having an adapter mounted thereon. The adapter incudes a first port adapted to communicate with an infusion line and a second port adapted to communicate with an anesthesia-delivering catheter. A valve device may be provided to regulate the flow between the first and second ports. In addition, the system preferably has associated with the docking station a device for relieving any tensile strain on the catheter line.

摘要： Invasive apparatus such as IV tubes, Foley catheters, arterial sheaths, Swan Ganz catheters, nasogastric tubes, or wires of temporary pacemakers are held externally on the body proximate the invasion site by a wrapping unit that has a wrap encircling a portion of the body, a support on the wrap, a cradle in the support for receiving a portion of the invasive apparatus, and either a flap, hinged cover, or rotatable latch via which the apparatus is releaseably held in the cradle. Various embodiments are disclosed, including a multi-part support in which one support part is selectively positionable on another and/or separably mounted on the latter. Various forms for the separable mounting are also disclosed. A novel form of Foley catheter is also disclosed. Also disclosed is an adaptor for adapting a conventional invasive device to one that can be received in the cradle of the support of a wrapping unit. The wrapping units are used on various portions of the body.

The secondary strap includes one or more male VELCRO.RTM. portions attached to the foam substrate of the VELFOAM.RTM.. The secondary strap attaches at its ends anywhere along the primary strap, trapping the medical tubing between its ends and the primary strap to secure the medical tubing in place.

摘要： A device and composition securely affixes an invasive medical apparatus to an entrance site and controls infections associated with the infiltration of microbes along the external walls of such apparatus. Provided in sterile form, the device takes various shapes and sizes and is configured for use with various sizes and types of invasive medical apparatus. The device can incorporate a hydrocolloid composition which, by virtue of is adhesive properties, holds that device in place at a skin entrance site. Alternatively, fixation is effected by adhesive provided on mating surfaces of the device or by thin-film, adhesive leaves. The device achieves a mechanically occlusive seal, a constant presence of medically active substances such as antiseptics and antibiotics at an apparatus skin entrance site, and a substantially rigid attachment of the apparatus to the area around a penetration site which limits the in-and-out motion and accompanying microbial infiltration common in the use of indwelling invasive medical apparatus. The device is particularly useful with catheters, cannulae, drainage devices, and pacemaker wires.

摘要： An endo-tracheal tube support apparatus is disclosed which includes a predetermined length of tubing having an oblong cross section and an aperture formed at a point along the length of tubing; and strap means positionable about the face and back of head of the patient, a portion of which is threaded through the length of tubing, for securing the tubing in the vicinity of the patient's nose or mouth, wherein a portion of the strap means protrudes through the aperture to form a loop for capturing the endo-tracheal tube. In preferred embodiments of the present invention, the aperture is positioned in a rounded edge of the tube in the form of a semicircular notch. The loop portion includes a section of double sided sticky tape with a pull tab. When the tab is pulled, the sticky surface of the tape is exposed and is used to prevent the endo-tracheal tube from slipping. Tightening of the strap means causes the loop portion to urge the endo-tracheal tube against the notch to seat the tube more securely in the notch and to apply additional friction to the endo-tracheal tube. A quick release buckle is employed along with hook and loop patches to permit easy adjustments of the length of the strap means.
