Abstract: A patient tube securement apparatus is disclosed that may be used for oral or nasal intubation of a patient.
The apparatus may comprise an endotracheal tube securement apparatus for securing an endotracheal tube to a patient, the apparatus comprising a dermal patch arranged to be positioned on the skin of the patient, and at least one tube holder on the dermal patch.
The apparatus may comprise a patient tube securement apparatus for securing a patient tube to a patient, the apparatus comprising a dermal patch arranged to be positioned on the skin of the patient, and at least one tube holder on the dermal patch.
Examples are provided in which the tube holder is adjustably mounted on the dermal patch such that the position of the tube holder on the dermal patch can be adjusted without removing the dermal patch from the skin of the patient.-

Abstract: A medical appliance for the treatment of one or more sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea in a patient, the appliance comprising: a biasing member for inserting behind and exerting a force upon the patient's soft palate or tongue, wherein the biasing member is inserted in a reduced or minimized form and then expanded or firms once in place to exert the force. The appliance may be nasally inserted or be placed through the mouth. In a particular configuration, both the soft palate and tongue are biased to prevent obstruction of the flow of air in the nasopharyngeal airway.

Abstract: An adjustable airway securement device that protects and enables placement, and positional stability of airway devices or endotracheal tube apparatus (ETT) of different lengths and diameters adapted to fit the airways of patients having oral and tracheal anatomical structures and facial geometries of various sizes. An internal force-exerting member, such as a flexible beam member operatively connected to an Interlock, collar, or a bonding material, or a surface texturing structure is urged into securing engagement with a sidewall of an airway device in response to rotational closure of a securing apparatus or a clamshell-type clamping member. The clamping member is configured to interact in clamping engagement with the continuous sidewall of the airway device via the Interlock device adjustably positioned in the stabilization system to prevent clinically significant movement of the distal end of the airway device with respect to the vocal cords of the patient.

Abstract: An endotracheal tube is provided having flexible tubing of a predetermined inner diameter and a predetermined length adapted for endotracheal intubation via a mouth or nasal passage of a patient and a separate curve stabilizer to which the flexible tubing may be attached and through which the flexible tubing extends. The curve stabilizer includes walls forming a hollow elbow which has distal and proximal ends and a curved section therebetween and being sufficiently rigid to retain a portion of the flexible tubing in a curved shape forming an anti-kink bend at any selected location along the predetermined length of the flexible tubing. A curve stabilizing device and a method of endotracheal intubation are also disclosed.
