摘要: A truck towing system is described. The truck towing system provides for a first truck to tow a second truck in a back to front relationship, i.e., the front portion of the second truck (the towed truck) is connected or attached to a rear portion of the first truck (the towing truck). The truck towing system includes an upper member to removably connect with a first truck. A middle member joins the upper member and a lower member in a fixed engagement. The lower member supports a front portion of a second truck. A beam member is removably engaged to the lower member, and the beam member extends and retracts from an interior of the lower member. The beam member connects to a rear portion of the second truck.

摘要: A gooseneck coupler may be used on a towing vehicle to help tow certain types of towed vehicles, such as trailers. The gooseneck coupler may include a first member, a second member pivotally attached to the first member, where the second member is capable of pivoting relative to the first member from a first position to a second position. The gooseneck coupler may also include an opening in the first member, the opening sized to receive a hitch ball, and a clinch mechanism located within the opening where the hitch ball is wedged between the clinch mechanism and the second member when the second member is in the second position relative to the first member.

摘要: A drive system is provided for an off-road vehicle that moves across unprepared terrain such as snow, tundra or ice. A plurality of n flexible airbag tires are in contact with the terrain and are driven by n top drive rollers carried by the chassis of the vehicle which frictionally engage and drive the airbag tires. A novel electromotive drive system is provided which includes a plurality of n electromotive drive motors connected to each of the n top drive rollers. Separate controllers having speed sensors and torque sensors are provided for sensing and controlling the instantaneous rotational speed and torque of each independent electromotive drive motor. A central, cab mounted computer based controller responsive to the independent motor controllers and various other inputs controls the instantaneous speed and torque of each of the individual drive motors. The independent speed and torque control of each drive motor is used to increase traction, assist steering, provide braking and regenerative electrical power.

摘要: A split-frame, heavy truck, suspension system for trucks that haul trailers made of three moveable interlocked rigid frames referred to as the front frame, rear frame, and interconnecting frame. The front frame supports the cab, engine, and transmission. The rear primary frame supports the drive axle and fifth wheel. The rear end of the interconnecting frame is pivotally mounted to the rear frame whereby the rear frame may rotate about a transverse axis. The front end of the interconnecting frame is mounted to the front frame in a manner that permits the interconnecting frame to rotate and pivot along its longitudinal axis relative to the front frame. Hydraulic cylinders are used to dampen vibrations and oscillations within this split-frame structure. An alternative embodiment allows the front frame to connect directly to the rear frame.

摘要: The invention is a driving assembly that can be attached to an existing trailer, manufactured with the trailer, or retrofitted onto a trailer in place of the front part of the trailer. The driving assembly comprises a housing attached to the trailer with a column disposed vertically through the housing. A cranking assembly engages the column and can vertically move the column. At least one drive wheel is attached to the column and is engageable with the ground. A hydraulic motor mounted on the wheel propels the trailer. A platform around the housing allows for the operator to be on the trailer while driving the trailer to impart weight to the drive wheel to increase traction.

The coupling means uses a fifth wheel and spring-loaded roller-detent means to maintain alignment in yaw between the vehicle and the trailer. A speed-responsive means reduces the "stiffness" in yaw between the automobile and the trailer when the vehicle speed is below a predetermined value.

摘要: An elongate vehicle having a steerable front frame and a trailing self-steering rear frame. The rear frame includes a wheel assembly mounted on a steerable subframe adjacent the front end of the rear frame. An elongate rear member extends from the front frame to the rear frame and is pivotally connected to the rear frame of swinging about a substantially upright pivot axis. A differential steering linkage pivotally interconnects the reach member, subframe, and rear frame whereby swinging the reach member relative to the rear frame, as occurs when the front frame turns, results in a smaller angular adjustment of the subframe and steerable front wheel assembly relative to the rear frame to automatically steer the rear frame in a path substantially tracking the front frame through the turn.
