    Abstract: A flooring component (700) comprising a main body portion (717) defining a first major surface (701) and a second major surface (702), a first extending portion (720) that extends from the main body portion in a first direction, the first extending portion defining a third surface coplanar to at least a portion of the first major surface, and a second extending portion (730) that extends from the main body portion in a second direction opposite the first direction, the second extending portion defining a fourth surface coplanar to at least a portion of the second major surface, wherein at least 60% of the main body portion, the first extending portion and the second extending portion is of a first material, the first extending portion comprises a female structure (722) on a side of the first extending portion opposite the third surface, the second extending portion comprises a male structure (733) on a side of the second extending portion opposite the fourth surface, the flooring component comprises, in a region of at least one of the female structure and the male structure, a resilient portion of a second material more pliable than the first material, and the female structure is of a shape that snappingly engages the male structure using a resilience of the resilient portion.

    Abstract: A modular floor tile is disclosed having a top surface made of a plurality of rib members defining openings between the rib members. A plurality of edge surfaces defines a perimeter about the top surface and a support system is integrally formed with and disposed at least partially beneath the top surface. The support system is capable of maintaining the top surface elevated above a ground surface when a load is not placed on the top surface. The support system has a primary support member disposed within the openings between the rib members. The primary support member is operably connected to a plurality of arms extending laterally from the structural member to the primary support member and is capable of vertical movement within the opening when a load is applied to the top surface.

    Abstract: A modular sub-flooring system for supporting an overlayment above a ground surface includes a plurality of sub-floor tiles situated about a ground surface, with each sub-floor tile having a substantially-flat top surface that is adapted to receive and support an overlayment, and a connection interface with opposing engagement surfaces. The sub-flooring system also includes a plurality of removable bridge connectors, with each of the bridge connectors having a plurality of tile interfaces, and with each tile interface having complimentary engagement surfaces configured to engage with the opposing engagement surfaces of the connection interfaces. The tile interfaces of the bridge connectors couple to the respective connection interfaces of any adjacent sub-floor tiles to restrain the relative vertical movement between the adjacent sub-floor tiles while facilitating controlled relative lateral movement between the sub-floor tiles.

    Abstract: A plank, and system and method for joining surface-covering planks, which includes a disengageable connector(s) for detachably connecting multiple planks simultaneously are described. A plank can include a tongue-profiled edge and an opposite rib-profiled edge, and a disengageable connector can have a groove that can be mated with the tongue on one side edge of the plank, and also has a rib-receiving portion that alternatively can be mated with a downward extending rib on the opposite side edge of the plank. The plank can have a variety of designs on the other edges of the plank.
