    摘要: According to one embodiment of the invention, an engine system comprises a housing, an outer gerotor, an inner gerotor, a tip inlet port, a face inlet port, and a tip outlet port. The housing has a first sidewall, a second sidewall, a first endwall, and a second endwall. The outer gerotor is at least partially disposed in the housing and at least partially defines an outer gerotor chamber. The inner gerotor is at least partially disposed within the outer gerotor chamber. The tip inlet port is formed in the first sidewall and allows fluid to enter the outer gerotor chamber. The face inlet port is formed in the first endwall and allows fluid to enter the outer gerotor chamber. The tip outlet port is formed in the second sidewall and allows fluid to exit the outer gerotor chamber.

    摘要: Rotary piston steam engine with equal double rotary pistons is provided with a balanced rotary variable inlet cut-off valve for enhanced efficiency. The exhaust steam from the primary expansion is routed to secondary expansion avoiding back pressure for additional efficiency. The rotary valve has balanced dual inputs and outputs on opposite sides. The exhaust steam from the primary expansion is taken off when the trailing face of the rotary piston passes the inlet port of the expansion chamber housing, the exhaust outlet secondary expansion being placed approximately 180 degrees from the primary expansion inlet in the curved portion of the expansion chamber housing wherein back pressure is not imparted to the primary expansion.

    摘要: A scroll expander includes a housing, a main port, a high-pressure chamber, an operation chamber, a low-pressure chamber, a subport, a valve portion, an actuator, and a drive shaft. The high-pressure and low-pressure chambers are separated by a partition wall. The main port draws working fluid in the high-pressure chamber into the operation chamber. The subport introduces the working fluid from the high-pressure chamber to the operation chamber so that the volume of the working fluid in the operation chamber is variable. The valve portion selectively opens and closes the subport. The actuator is arranged in the low-pressure chamber. The drive shaft extends through the partition wall and connects the actuator and the valve portion with each other. When the drive shaft is actuated by the actuator, the subport is selectively opened and closed by the valve portion.

In one embodiment, an internal combustion engine includes an engine body and a ring-shaped cylinder in the engine body. The ring-shaped cylinder has a center and an outer circumference spaced radially apart from the center. The internal combustion engine further includes a plurality of synchronizing valves at least proximate the outer circumference of the ring-shaped cylinder so that the ring-shaped cylinder is divided into a plurality of cylinder portions. The synchronizing valve has a valve shaft and a valve opening. The internal combustion engine further includes a rotor at the center of the ring-shaped cylinder, and the rotor has isolation blocks extending from the rotor toward the outer circumference of the ring-shaped chamber. The valve openings are configured to receive the isolation blocks and to form seals in the ring-shaped cylinder.

When the compression mode ports are selected, the rotors and the housing enclose spaces initially opening at the inlet end and then closing such that the volume of the spaces contracts as the rotors are turned.

    摘要: An eccentric rotor, concentric vane motor device characterized by one or more of the following improvements: (1) an improved seal structure for sealing between the vanes and rotor vane guides as they rotate and interdigitate the vanes within a main chamber; (2) an adjustable inlet aperture on a torque control sleeve to eliminate a throttle and its associated loss in efficiency; (3) adjustable exhaust apertures in an exhaust control to reduce losses from over- or under-expansion of a working fluid flowing through the motor; (4) a combination of the adjustable inlet aperture and the adjustable exhaust apertures to enable optimum efficiency, including the supercharging capability, over a wide range of power and speed requirements; and (5) a vane tip seal intermediate the vane and the interior cylindrical surface of a main chamber within which the vanes rotate. The motor device is employed in a system, including a reversing valve arrangement, for reversing the direction of rotation of the motor; and has within it means for reversibly positioning the adjustable inlet apertures and the adjustable exhaust apertures. Also disclosed are specific embodiments useful for a wide variety of working fluids, regardless of whether or not the working fluids are recirculated.
