The codesigned shroud may have a plurality of walls defining a plurality of channels, wherein at least two walls of the plurality of walls define each channel of the plurality of channels. Each channel may be aligned with a direction of an airflow of the plurality of airflows. At least one channel includes a set of baffles oriented substantially perpendicular to the direction of an airflow in the channel. Each baffle may be formed with acoustically absorbent material to absorb acoustic energy that could affect performance of a component, wherein a first baffle of the set of baffles is offset from a second baffle of the set of baffles.

    摘要: An electronic system includes a fan module, an embedded controller, a reference microphone, an error microphone, an active noise cancellation controller, and a micro speaker module. The reference microphone is configured to output a wide-band noise signal associated with the operation of the fan module. The error microphone is configured to output an error signal by detecting the noise level during the operation of the electronic system. According to the wide-band noise signal, the error signal and the fan information provided by the embedded controller, the active noise cancellation controller calculates the narrow-band noises and the wide-band noises generated by the fan module, and drives the micro speaker module accordingly for providing a noise cancellation signal. The error signal may be reduced to zero by adaptively adjusting the noise cancellation signal for canceling the noises generated during the operation of the electronic system.

    摘要: A noise source emits an acoustic noise wave with a noise frequency corresponding to an attribute of a control-status signal associated with the noise source. A method to reduce the noise comprises generating, based on the noise frequency corresponding to the attribute, an anti-noise signal having the noise frequency. The method further comprises phase-shifting the anti-noise signal to output a phase-shifted anti-noise signal that can be used to generate a noise-cancelling acoustic wave. The method can include aligning the first anti-noise signal to be in-phase with the acoustic noise wave. An anti-noise apparatus to implement the method includes an anti-noise generator, to generate the anti-noise signal, and a phase shifter to generate and output the phase-shifted anti-noise signal. The anti-noise apparatus can include a phase detector and phase alignment element to align the anti-noise signal to be in-phase with the acoustic noise wave.

    摘要: A system for controlling fan noise includes a fin, a fan, a sensor, a signal processing unit, and a speaker. The fin has a front side and a rear side opposite to the front side. The fan is disposed adjacent to the front side and has an airflow outlet, and the airflow outlet faces the front side. The sensor is disposed adjacent to the rear side and is used for receiving a sound signal made by the fan. After the signal processing unit receives the sound signal sent by the sensor, the signal processing unit provides an inversed phase signal by analysis and computation. The speaker is disposed adjacent to the rear side, for receiving and outputting the inversed phase signal provided by the signal processing unit, so as to offset the noise made by the fan.

    摘要: Some embodiments of the present invention provide a system that attenuates noise from a fan exhaust of a computer system. During operation, the system monitors the noise from the fan exhaust and calculates a frequency spectrum of the noise from the monitored noise. Next, the system generates an antiphase spectrum from the frequency spectrum and generates a flow of air which exhibits a property of the antiphase spectrum. Finally, the system directs the flow of air into the fan exhaust so that the noise is attenuated by a reduction of turbulence in the fan exhaust by the flow of air.

    摘要: A computer system having a noise cancellation module and a method of canceling noise using a noise cancellation module in a computer system are described. The computer system includes a processor for controlling operation of the computer system, a noise cancellation module coupled to the processor, and a memory coupled to the processor and storing operating instructions and at least one sequence of noise cancellation instructions. The noise cancellation instructions cause the processor to generate cancellation audio signals responsive to receipt of audio signals from the noise cancellation module, and transmit the generated cancellation audio signals to the noise cancellation module. The method includes sensing, by the noise cancellation module, an audio signal generated by the noise-generating source and causing the processor to generate a noise cancellation signal responsive thereto. The noise cancellation module generates an audio signal based on the generated noise cancellation signal from the processor.
