摘要:
A method for storing and managing motion video image information for retrieving scenes of interest in a short time from a many-hour motion video image stored in a recording medium. As motion video image information for managing and retrieving a motion video image, a whole motion video image R is hierarchically divided into frame sequences A, A1, A11 . . . of shorter time according to the construction and the semantic contents thereof, and logical frame structure data representing the hierarchical relationship of the frame sequences, attribute data At of the frame sequences, and still video images rf of representative frames are generated, which are associated with each other to create a data file. Retrieval of a motion video image is performed by extracting frame sequences using the attribute data and logical frame structure as retrieval keys for the data file of the motion video image information, and confirming the contents using the still video image rf of the representative frames. Any scene can be randomly accessed and associated scenes can also be retrieved easily, and thus a motion video image of interest can quickly be retrieved from a many-hour motion video image.

Talking video games provide simulated voice dialog between human players and animated characters on a video or television screen. Two or more animated characters perform cooperative actions and talk about what they are doing or will soon do. They talk to each other and to the human players who control directly or indirectly what the characters do and say. Each scene branches to two or more subsequent scenes. But within each scene there are several branching dialog sequences, thereby providing a large variety of possible dialogs. Pictures and voices are generated from digital data read from a laser-readable disk or stored in a semiconductor memory. Each player has a hand-held controller that displays two or more phrases or sentences. A player responds to what an animated character says by pressing a button next to a selected sentence. An animated character then responds verbally or by action to the selected sentence as if it had been spoken by the human player or says the words the player selected. Speech recognition is not required. Human players are thus given an illusion of having voice dialog with interesting characters involved in cooperative activities.

A Compact-Disc Digital Audio player in which different users, independently of one another, can store preferred selections of specific discs in a memory. The player is adapted to identify the disc from the sub-code on the disc. In addition, a user identification can be entered in the player. The user identification and the record carrier identification are combined to form one identification code. Further, the player is adapted to detect whether for said identification code a preferred-selection program is stored in the memory and, if this is the case, to reproduce the relevant information from the disc in the sequence specified by the preferred-selection program.

A compact-disc digital audio player is described in which a user can store preferred selections on selected discs in a memory. The player can identify the disc from the subcode on the disc and can read the corresponding preferred selection out of the memory to play this preferred selection.

An apparatus for reproducing information in the form of one or more information blocks in the track of a record carrier, for example a compact-disc digital audio player, is equipped with a memory having n storage locations for storing in each of these storage locations one sequence number corresponding to an information block (if present) whose beginning is situated in a portion of the record carrier corresponding to each storage location, where n

A compact-disc-digital-audio-system has bandwidth reduced in order to extend the playing time, for example for the reproduction of 10 hours of speech. This is achieved without significantly modifying the existing players and without affecting the standard EFM coding, by multiplexing a plurality of information channels in such a way that they can be reproduced consecutively by repeatedly playing the entire CD disc.

An image information registering/retrieving system comprises an optical disk for registering image information and for registering retrieving data, a magnetic disk for storing the retrieving data, and a control circuit for controlling the registering and retrieving operations. When the magnetic disk loses its function and is replaced by a new one, the retrieving data on the optical disk is copied on the new magnetic disk.

An analog color video information signal is sampled at times determined by a first clock signal of a predetermined frequency whose phase is reversed on every consecutive horizontal line. The obtained samples are digitized and encoded for recording on a magnetic record medium, with the encoded data timed relative to a second clock signal of the predetermined frequency whose phase is continuous. The reproduced encoded data is processed under the control of two additional clock signals, each of which is of the predetermined frequency and has its phase reversed on every consecutive horizontal line. In the processing, the reproduced data is decoded, reclocked relative to a first of the two additional clock signals, has the chrominance component of the video information selectively inverted and converted back to analog form under the control of the second of the two additional clock signals.

The invention provides a disc device having a disc with a spiral data recording area, a motor for driving the disc, a head for recording data on the disc, reproducing it therefrom and erasing it thereon, a movable mechanism for radially moving the head on the disc, a positioning servo circuit for controlling and driving the movable mechanism, and a microprocessor for controlling the positioning servo circuit. A counter is included in the positioning servo circuit. The counter counts rotation synchronizing clock signals from the motor and outputs a predetermined reference position signal. In accordance with an output signal from the counter, the movable mechanism is driven at the same velocity as that at which the data recording area of the disc is moved in the movement direction of the movable mechanism.
