Abstract: An electrical circuit for providing electrical power for use in powering electronic devices, such as monitors, televisions, white goods, data centers, and telecom circuit boards, is described herein. The electrical circuit includes an input terminal configured to receive an input power signal, an output terminal configured to provide an output power signal, and a plurality of voltage reduction circuit cells coupled between the input terminal and the output terminal. Each of the voltage reduction circuit cells includes a pair of flyback capacitors, a switching circuit, and a hold capacitor. The switching device is configured to operate the corresponding voltage reduction circuit cell at a charging phase and at a discharging phase. The plurality of voltage reduction circuit cells are configured to deliver the output power signal having a voltage level that is less than the voltage level of the input power signal.

Abstract: A constant on-time pulse width control-based apparatus capable of detecting a transient event of a voltage converter includes a specific comparator, a logic circuit, and a controller. The specific comparator generates a logic control signal to the logic circuit according to two resultant signals of the controller. The logic circuit generates a pulse control signal with an on-time pulse width to charge an output capacitor according to the logic control signal. The controller generates the two resultant signals to the specific comparator by generating a voltage ramp signal and amplifying an output voltage ripple signal based on a reference voltage, and detects the transient event to dynamically adjust the on-time pulse width of the pulse control signal according to the amplified output voltage ripple signal.

Abstract: A buck-boost DC-DC converter, which includes converter control circuitry, converter switching circuitry, and a first inductive element, is disclosed. The converter control circuitry provides a buck mode timing signal and a boost mode timing signal. The converter switching circuitry provides a switching output signal. During a buck mode of the buck-boost DC-DC converter, when a buck pulse-width of the switching output signal is less than a buck pulse-width threshold, the buck pulse-width is limited based on both the buck mode timing signal and the boost mode timing signal. During a boost mode of the buck-boost DC-DC converter, when a boost pulse-width of the switching output signal is less than a boost pulse-width threshold, the boost pulse-width is limited based on both the buck mode timing signal and the boost mode timing signal. The first inductive element receives and filters the switching output signal to provide a converter output signal.

Abstract: A charge pump circuit that utilizes a sensing circuit for determining the current loading or status of the output supply generated by the charge pump circuit to determine a corresponding frequency for a variable rate clock for the charge pump circuit. When a current load is present, the clock frequency automatically ramps up to a relatively high level to increase the output current of the charge pump circuit. When the current load is removed and the supply is settled out, the clock frequency is automatically reduced to a relatively quieter level and the charge pump circuitry operates at a lower power level. Accordingly, the charge pump circuit is only noisy when it has to be, thus providing optimal power when required and being electrically quiet and operating at lower power at all other times.

The electrical circuit includes a voltage reduction circuit and a rectifier circuit for delivering input power signal to the voltage reduction circuit. The rectifier circuit includes a full wave bridge rectifier coupled to the electrical power source, a Zener based charging circuit coupled to the full wave bridge rectifier, a voltage divider coupled to the Zener based charging circuit and the full wave bridge rectifier, and an output terminal coupled to the full wave bridge rectifier, the Zener based charging circuit, and the voltage divider for delivering the input power signal to the voltage reduction circuit.
