Abstract:
The invention pertains to a method for reading analog and/or digital data stored on a microform in fields by means of a device for accessing the microform, which is connected to a data processing system by a hardware interface. The invention also pertains to a device for implementing the method and to a microform. So that the data acquired by the device can be subjected to further processing in a conventional personal computer, it is proposed according to the invention that the analog and/or digital data stored on the microform be presented to the data processing system by a control unit of the device as if the microform were a conventional removable data storage medium. Finally, an advantageous microform is described, the data on which can be read out quickly and which, because of its design, is suitable for the long-term, safe archiving of data, especially digital data.
Abstract:
Provide a shared device control method and server-client system, which inform the client user of the state of a shared device upon accessing the connectable shared device on the network, thereby preventing unwanted situations (for example, the user cannot determine what has happened; the user cannot obtain a desired access result; access results in other fatal errors; and so forth). A shared device, to be shared by a plurality of data processing apparatuses connected via a network, is controlled by one of the plurality of data processing apparatuses, and the other data processing apparatuses inquires of the data processing apparatus controlling the shared device, a reserve or ready state of the shared device, or a mode which displays a window via the network, prior to use of the shared device informs the client user of the state of the shared device.
Abstract:
An image capture apparatus includes: a communication unit and a control unit. The communication unit communicates with an external apparatus via a first transmission line and a second transmission line. The control unit determines whether or not the communication unit is in a predetermined state, in a case where the operation mode of the image capture apparatus changed to either a playback mode or an image capture mode. The control unit does not execute a connecting process in a case where the communication unit is in the predetermined state.
Abstract:
A network synchronizing system includes plural apparatuses. A first apparatus includes a first recording unit to record personal data of one or more users who can use the first apparatus to share the personal data with other apparatuses. A second apparatus includes a first setting unit to record personal data of one or more users who can use the second apparatus; and a first control unit to compare the personal data recorded in the first setting unit and the first recording unit and update the personal data recorded in the first setting unit of the second apparatus with the latest personal data for each user. The first control unit determines that users are the same user when data uniquely provided for the users in the personal data recorded in the first setting unit and the first recording unit are the same.
Abstract:
An image data processing apparatus, increase: a reader that reads image data included in an image file in read units of a specified data length from an external storage medium storing the image file; a storage that temporarily saves the image data read by the reader; and a data processor that requests image data to the reader and applying a specified data processing to the image data given from the reader in response to the request; wherein the reader reads image data requested by the data processor from the storage and supplies them to the data processor and, if the image data requested by the data processor cannot be read from the storage, reads image data of a specified data length including the image data from the storage medium and supplies them to the data processor, and the reader optimizes the read unit according to the form of the request from the data processor.
Abstract:
An authentic scanner driver 11 provided with a function of preventing unauthorized use is installed in a personal computer 10. Data is sent and received with a color scanner 20 via the driver. The color scanner 20 is provided with a driver recognition portion 22 for making a decision as to whether the connection target is an authentic driver. Only where the driver is judged to be an authentic driver, normal image processing (acceptance and transfer of data) is performed. Where the driver is not an authentic driver, the normal image processing is stopped. Thus, the unauthorized use preventing function incorporated in the driver is operated with certainty. Monitoring is done to detect whether fraudulent processing such as forgery is performed. Consequently, unauthorized use can be prevented.
Abstract:
At least one exemplary embodiment is directed to a cradle device which inhibits driving of a pan/tile driving unit in the event of an imaging device being detached from the cradle device, and also receiving a control command of the imaging device from a camera. The cradle device can lock the imaging device in the event that the imaging device is mounted on the cradle device. The cradle device can have a configuration enabling detaching the imaging device, thus facilitating the most appropriate environment for a surveillance system.
Abstract:
An apparatus is capable of executing a facsimile communication using an Error Correction Mode (ECM) function based on a facsimile procedure with a communication partner connected via an Internet Protocol (IP) network. In response to receiving, from the communication partner via the network, a communication start request including information indicating a transport protocol for use in the communication, if the apparatus determines that the transport protocol for use in the communication does not have the error correction function, the apparatus sends to the communication partner a notification indicating that the apparatus is capable of executing the communication using the ECM function. Otherwise, if the apparatus determines that the transport protocol for use in the communication has the error correction function, the apparatus sends to the communication partner a notification indicating that the apparatus is incapable of executing the communication using the ECM function.
Abstract:
An object of the invention is to provide an image processing device having a sub-system performing a power saving control to support the use of a USB device or provided to allow the supporting of the use of a USB device, in which operational mismatching which may occur at a start of a the power saving mode between the USB device and a USB device driver provided in the main system of the image processing device can be effectively suppressed. A state of the USB device driver before the mode of the image processing device is changed to the power saving mode is held, and, when the state of the USB device acquired after the mode of the image processing device returns from the power saving mode differs from the held state of the USB device driver, an estimated state-transition sequence for changing a state of the USB device driver is determined by an ACPI driver based on a result of comparison of the held state of the USB device driver and the acquired state of the USB device, thereby changing the state of the USB device driver according to the estimated state-transition sequence.
Abstract:
An image read processing device connected to a scanner reading an image of a document comprises at least a memory and a controller. The memory comprises a setting information recording unit that records a setting information with an application to start up depending on a document size defined there. The controller comprises a scanner controlling unit that controls the scanner, a document size checking unit that checks the document size of the image read out by the scanner according to the control of the scanner controlling unit, and a start-up application determining unit that determines the application depending on the document size checked by the document size checking unit, based on the setting information recorded in the setting information recording unit and starts up the application.
