    摘要: A portable, air powered drill has an automated feed system and an adjustable dwell for producing countersunk holes in a workpiece. The feed system uses hydraulic cylinders and pneumatic control logic to control the feed rate, and the dwell time of a countersink drill bit at the end of the drill stroke. A movable mechanical stop permits an operator user to adjust countersink depth. The control logic provides fully automatic feed of the drill bit, and adjustment of the dwell time to consistently produce identical countersunk holes in a variety of workpiece materials.

    摘要: Driving engagement is obtained between an arbor held in a machine tool and a collet holder that supports a drill bit by locking balls that are secured in engagement with drive surfaces by a locking ring. A nose cone is adjustably attached to the front of the locking ring and when the nose cone bottoms out on the workpiece, continued movement of the drill bit assembly relative to the nose cone assembly causes the locking ring to allow the locking balls to disengage the collet holder after ½″ additional travel. Inner and outer springs reposition the clutch mechanism in its initial position for subsequent drilling operations.

    摘要: One aspect of the invention is a method of rapidly drilling holes in a workpiece on a drilling machine having first and second spindles holding first and second drill tools, a first and second pressure foot mounted on the first and second spindles and a work table mounted beneath the spindles on which workpieces can be mounted. The method includes selecting a workpiece having a thickness, defining a nominal vertical home position for the first and second spindles, such that in the home position there is a nominal clearance distance between the bottom surface of the spindle's pressure foot and the top surface of the workpiece to be positioned beneath the spindle, measuring a drill tool offset distance for the first and second spindles such that the drill tool offset distance is equal to the distance between the bottom surface of the pressure foot of the spindle and the tip of the drill tool mounted in the spindle, compensating for the drill tool offset distance by designating a vertical upper limit for the first spindle and a vertical upper limit for the second spindle such that when the first and second spindles are at their respective upper limits, the tips of their respective drill tools are positioned in equal distance from the top surface of the work table, and accordingly, the top surface of the workpiece mounted thereon.

    摘要: An annular thread cutting die head for a power driven threading machine is comprised of an annular support plate assembly supporting a plurality of radially displaceable threading cutting dies spaced apart about the axis of the die head, and a cam plate assembly coaxial with and pivotal relative to the support plate assembly to radially displace the cutting dies. The cam plate assembly is spring biased to pivot relative to the support plate assembly in the direction to radially retract the cutting dies, and pivoting in the latter direction is controlled by a keeper mounted on the support plate assembly and engaging a keeper track on the cam plate assembly. The keeper is mounted on the support plate assembly for pivotal displacement about a keeper axis parallel to the die head axis, and pivotal displacement of the keeper is controlled by a lever mechanism actuated by a workpiece being threaded to provide for progressive displacement of the cam plate assembly and receding displacement of the cutting dies during the threading operation.

    摘要: A glass drilling machine for drilling holes in a sheet of glass in which each hole is partly drilled from one side of the sheet and is then finish drilled from the opposite side. The machine is made up of aligned first and second drilling devices which are attached near the ends of first and second pivotable arms, respectively, the first and second arms being periodically pivoted toward and away from the sheet to bring the drilling devices into and out of drilling engagement with the sheet. The first and second arms are releasably clamped to first and second spindles, respectively, which pivot about first and second axes, respectively, the first and second axes being spaced apart but close to one another and positioned remote from the drilling devices. The position of the first arm is adjustable along its longitudinal axis and the position of the second arm is adjustable along the axis of the second spindle. A cooling fluid is circulated through the drilling devices against the sheet, and a pressure sensor is provided to sense cooling fluid back pressure, which will fall suddenly and appreciably at the conclusion of a drilling cycle if a slug drops from the sheet, to control the operation of the machine and thereby ensure the completion of the drilling cycle.
