Abstract: A stapling apparatus includes a cartridge assembly, an anvil assembly, and a buttress material. The cartridge assembly includes pushers configured to eject the respective surgical staples from the cartridge assembly, and an outer wall defining a cavity and having a finger deflectably extending over the cavity. The buttress material includes an annular body and a tab extending proximally from the annular body such that at least a portion of the tab is wrapped around the finger of the outer wall of the staple cartridge assembly. The pushers are movable between a first position in which one of the pushers engages the finger such that the tab is secured against the one of the pushers, and a second position in which the one of the pushers is disengaged from the finger such that a portion of the tab is released from the one of the pushers.

Abstract: A device for dividing a fibrous structure comprising a catheter; an expandable member positioned near a distal end of the catheter and in fluid communication with a lumen of the catheter; and a cutting element situated on an outer surface of the expandable member. A method for dividing a fibrous structure comprising positioning, proximate the fibrous structure, an expandable member having a cutting element situated thereon; expanding the expandable member outwards to tension the fibrous structure across the cutting element; and activating the cutting element to weaken or cut the fibrous structure. A method for treating carpal tunnel syndrome comprising inserting a needle into the carpal tunnel; directing a guidewire to a position proximate the transverse carpal ligament; advancing, along the guidewire, a device having an expandable member and a cutting element; positioning the cutting element; tensioning the ligament across the cutting element; and weakening or cutting the ligament.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to an electrosurgical apparatus for generating plasma in electrosurgical applications. The electrosurgical apparatus includes an end effector disposed on a distal portion of a tube of the electrosurgical apparatus. The end effector mixes ambient air with an inert gas to increase the production of radical species. In one aspect of the present disclosure, the end effector includes a cylindrical augmenter disposed over a distal end of the tube with one or more tilted vanes disposed between the cylindrical augmenter and the tube. In another aspect of the present disclosure, the end effector includes one or more tilted vanes disposed on an inner surface of a wall of the distal end of the tube. In another aspect of the present disclosure, the end effector includes one or more advection apertures on the wall of the distal end of the tube.

Abstract: An apparatus comprises a body, a shaft assembly, an end effector, a cartridge, and a staple driver actuator. The end effector is operable to manipulate tissue. The end effector comprises a lower jaw, a pivotable anvil, and a translating cutter. The translating cutter is operable to translate relative to the lower jaw and the anvil when the anvil is pivoted toward the lower jaw to manipulate tissue. The cartridge is insertable into the lower jaw and includes a plurality of staples. The staple driver actuator is disposed within the cartridge. The staple driver actuator comprises a secondary cutting element. The translating cutter of the end effector is operable to drive the staple driver actuator distally to staple and cut tissue substantially simultaneously.

Abstract: An powered hair restoration and surgical assembly includes a housing for gripping during a surgical procedure. A blunt dissector is removably coupled to the housing for manipulating an incision. A control circuit is positioned in the housing and an incising unit is movably positioned in the housing. The incising unit is electrically coupled to the control circuit. The incising unit is extendable outwardly through the blunt dissector to incise skin on a patient and the incising unit is retractable into the blunt dissector. A fluid dispenser unit is positioned in the housing and the fluid dispenser unit is electrically coupled to the control circuit. The fluid dispenser unit is in fluid communication with the incising unit to deliver a selectable volume of the fluid into the incision when the incising unit is extended outwardly through the blunt dissector. A control is positioned on the housing. The control is electrically coupled to the control circuit for controlling operational parameters of the incising unit and the fluid dispenser unit.

Abstract: A transection device including a hollow tubular body extending from a proximal end to a distal end. A plurality of stabilizing members extend from the distal end of the tubular body and define a reduced diameter opening into a receiving chamber adjacent the distal end of the tubular body. A blade is positioned within the tubular body and moveable between an initial position within the tubular body to an extended position wherein at least a portion of the blade extends into the receiving chamber. A depressible member extends from the proximal end and is configured to move the blade between the initial position and the extended position. A compression member may be positioned between the plunger member and the blade.
