摘要: An ultrasonic surgical instrument is disclosed including an end effector and a handle assembly. The end effector includes an ultrasonic blade and a clamp arm movable relative to the ultrasonic blade between an open position and a closed position. The handle assembly includes a handle comprising a pivot pin, a trigger pivotable relative to the handle about the pivot pin, and a yoke operably coupled to the trigger. The yoke is longitudinally movable between a proximal position and a distal position based on pivotable movement of the trigger relative to the handle. The yoke defines an opening. The pivot pin extends into the opening. The opening defines an actuator travel stop configured to contact the pivot pin to prevent overtravel of the trigger.

摘要: An ultrasonic device may include an electromechanical system defined by a resonant frequency and further include an ultrasonic transducer coupled to an ultrasonic blade. The device may be composed of two or more components, one of which is reusable and one of which is disposable. A method of detecting a proper installation of the components may include determining a spectroscopy signature of the blade coupled to the transducer, comparing the signature to a reference signature, determining an installation state of the components based on the comparison, and controlling a delivery of power to the transducer based on the comparison. The method may include enabling an operation of the device when the installation state of components is proper. The method may further include disabling the device when the installation state is not proper and generating a warning. The warning may be visible, audible, or tactile.

摘要: A method of operating a modular surgical system including a control module, a first surgical module, and a second surgical module is disclosed. The method includes detachably connecting the first surgical module to the control module by stacking the first surgical module with the control module in a stack configuration, detachably connecting the second surgical module to the first surgical module by stacking the second surgical module with the control module and the first surgical module in the stack configuration, powering up the modular surgical system, and monitoring distribution of power from a power supply of the control module to the first surgical module and the second surgical module.

摘要: An ultrasonic surgical instrument and method of deflecting an end effector includes the end effector having an ultrasonic blade, a shaft assembly defining a longitudinal axis, and a body assembly. The shaft assembly has an articulation section configured to articulate from a straight configuration to an articulated configuration and an acoustic waveguide with a flexible waveguide portion positioned within the articulation section. The body assembly proximally extends from the shaft assembly and includes a housing and a shiftable transducer. The shiftable transducer is secured to the acoustic waveguide and configured to generate an ultrasonic energy. In addition, the shiftable transducer assembly is movably mounted relative to the housing and configured to accommodate deflection of the end effector.

摘要: A robotic surgical tool is disclosed. The robotic surgical tool can comprise an end effector comprising a firing member; a drive system responsive to a motor-driven input; and a proximal housing comprising a retraction mechanism. The retraction mechanism can comprise a control responsive to a manual input. The control can be rotatable in a first direction through a retraction motion and rotatable in a second direction through a reset motion. The retraction mechanism can further comprise a clutch coupled to the control. The clutch can be configured to drivingly engage the drive system as the control rotates through the retraction motion to supply a proximal retraction stroke to a firing bar and drivingly disengaged from the drive system as the control rotates through the reset motion to prevent any displacement of the firing bar by the retraction mechanism until the control is reset for a subsequent retraction motion.

摘要: A surgical instrument, operable to compress, staple, and cut tissue, includes a body, a shaft, and an end effector with a pair of jaws. A placement tip that is bent, angled, or curved and extends distally from one of the jaws of the end effector. The placement tip is elastically deformable when the placement tip is subject to a clamping force, such as when the end effector is closed with the jaws in contact or when tissue is clamped between the jaws of the end effector. When the placement tip deflects, relative angles defined in part by the placement tip vary compared to an initial state without the clamping force. Furthermore, a distal end of the placement tip may change position based on the state of deflection of the placement tip in response to the clamping force.
