Abstract: Exemplary transection devices for making incisions through the pericardial membrane or parietal layer of the pericardium are described. These examples share the characteristic that they are deployed intravascularly through the RAA, IVC, SVC, or via a subxiphoid approach. One example is a pericardial tissue transection device comprising an elongated body with a proximal end and a distal end and extending along a longitudinal length. An incision assembly is coupled to the distal end of the elongated body. The incision assembly comprises an incision member having first and second ends each coupled to the incision assembly and aligned with the longitudinal length of the elongate body. At least a portion of the incision member is structured to reversibly extend laterally from the elongated body.

Abstract: Disclosed is a medical device comprising an incision assembly coupled to a catheter and an incision opening defined along the incision assembly. A retractable cutting apparatus is disposed within the incision opening and comprises a first incision member comprising at least one first cutting surface and defining a first member proximal end rotatably fixed proximate to a distal end of the incision opening and the at least one cutting surface is located on a bottom edge of the first incision member. A second incision member comprises at least one second cutting surface and defines a second member distal end attached to the first incision member at a connection point between a first member distal end and the first member proximal end of the first incision member, and wherein the at least one second cutting surface is located on a bottom edge of the second incision member.

Abstract: A microsurgical device and methods of its use can be used for treatment of various conditions including eye diseases, such as glaucoma, using minimally invasive surgical techniques. A device can be used for cutting the trabecular meshwork (“TM”) in the eye. The device tip provides entry into the Schlemm's canal via its size (i.e., for example, 0.2-0.3 mm width) and configuration where a ramp elevates the TM away from the outer wall of the Schlemm's canal and guides the TM to first and second lateral elements for creating first and second incisions through the TM. The dimensions and configuration of the device is such that an entire strip of TM is removed without leaving TM leaflets behind and without causing collateral damage to adjacent tissues.

Abstract: A surgical tool comprises a dilator, a cutter, a retractable brush, and at least one retractable drill. The dilator is configured to dilate tissue of a patient and can be positioned in an undilated configuration or a dilated configuration. The cutter is configured to cut the tissue and is disposed at a distal end of the dilator. The cutter is configured to move between a cutting position when the dilator is in the undilated configuration and a non-cutting position when the dilator is in the dilated configuration. The retractable brush is configured to brush a surface of an anatomical element of the patient to remove matter from the surface. The at least one retractable drill is configured to drill into the anatomical element.

Abstract: Surgical knives are disclosed, for initiating percutaneous access to a surgical site. The knife has a body with a rear handle and a front cutter portion. It may have a central cannulation to receive a guide wire, along a front-to-rear operating axis. The cutter portion has first and second blades opposed across the axis, each having an outward cutting edge directed laterally outwardly relative to the operating axis and a flat outward face also directed laterally outwardly relative to the operating axis and transversely to the respective outward cutting edge. The first and second outward faces of the two blades converge forwardly to their tip points, which lie close to the axis, and their cutting edges are oppositely directed. Alternatively a single blade may be used, forwardly convergent with the axis.

Abstract: Embodiments include a system comprising a carrier and a cannula assembly. The carrier includes a proximal end and a distal end, and the proximal end is configured to removeably couple to a remote console. The cannula assembly, which is configured to removeably couple to the distal end of the carrier, is configured for rotational fractional resection (RFR) and includes at least one cannula rotatably coupled to the carrier and enclosed in a depth guide configured to control an insertion depth of the at least one cannula. The depth guide includes a vacuum chamber configured to form vacuum to evacuate resected tissue generated by the RFR.
