The method comprises obtaining particles of urban waste material; screening the particles of urban waste material by size, selecting particles of urban waste material that lie within a defined size range; and processing the selected particles using at least one physical or chemical technique whereby to increase the concentration of platinum group metals to at least 5 ppm. The invention also relates to an apparatus for increasing the concentration of platinum group metals in particulate urban waste material. In various embodiments, a control system may be configured to utilize indicators to direct the sortation of items in a materials handling facility, such as an order fulfillment center tasked with fulfilling customer orders for one or more items. For a given unsorted item, the control system may cause an indicator to indicate to which of multiple sorting slots the given item is to be placed, thereby sorting the item to its respective shipment assigned to the sorting slot. In various embodiments, the shipment sorting units may be serviced from a rebin side as well as a pack side. The control system may be configured to prioritize the processing of such shipments by utilizing indicators associated with respective shipment sorting slots on the pack side to indicate a priority for processing a given shipment.

    摘要: A chopper unit for chopping bales of vegetation is particularly well suited for chopping large square bales. The chopper unit mounts on the arms of a transporter unit such as a skid loader. The unit includes a housing having a deck with a window therein. During normal operation, the deck faces upwardly. The housing includes a chopping chamber having the window in the deck at one end thereof, and extending to an opening or window in a side wall of the housing. A bale hopper mounted on the deck can translate along a predetermined path. The bale hopper extends generally upwardly when the unit is in an operating position, and surrounds the window in the deck. A vegetation cutter mounted within the chopping chamber partially projects through the deck's window and into the hopper. Rotating the cutter chops the vegetation into small pieces. The hopper translation allows the cutter to access the entire bottom surface of the bale. A fan preferably forces air into the chopping chamber adjacent to the cutter to sweep chopped bale particles to an opening in a wall of the housing.

    摘要: Refuse, waste material is loaded first into a shredder, the output of which is passed through a ferrous metal detector and then a non-ferrous metal detector, thereby removing most of the metal materials. The partially treated waste product is then fed into a separator tank at least partially filled with water, and made turbulent by the introduction of pressurized water and pressurized air to separate floatable materials from the non-floatable, heavy material such as concrete. The output of the separator tank, after separating the floatable materials, is then fed through a settlement tank, removing the remaining heavy slurry materials from the remaining lighter slurry of the waste material. As an option, the remaining lighter slurry waste material can be fed back into the separator tank for further processing.
