The present invention comprises a method of shredding treated medical waste, cleaning it of all traces of biological gunk, and sorting it into separate components for recycling. To clean biological gunk from materials, all materials must be first shredded into small parts to expose the interior. The cleaning is performed by submerging the gunk coated materials into a caustic solution that breaks down and dissolves the gunk off of the materials. The caustic solution may comprise sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, or a similar chemical, which is highly effective in producing a corrosive chemical that can break down blood, bone marrow, urine, unused medication, food waste, organs, tissues and any other biologic materials. After all of the biological material is removed from the cleaned materials, they are sorted into component materials, such as plastics, metals, rubbers, glass, etc.

A bottle shredder is disclosed. The bottle shredder features a bottle holder, sized to receive a plastic bottle, a wire cutter and bottle support, both of which are located below the bottle holder. The bottle holder is attached to a linear slide, which is capable of moving the bottle holder directly above a shredding apparatus. The shredding apparatus contains at least one feed roller operatively connected to a first motor, a spur gear, a bearing block, featuring at least one bearing, and at least one shredding blade operatively connected to a second motor via the spur gear and bearing block. Below the shredding apparatus is a finished shreds chute, which collects the post-shredded bottle parts.

The method includes reduction, separation, beneficiation and extraction of raw materials. A method and apparatus for recycling gypsum board which includes grinding the raw material into chunks, crushing the material further in a rolling mill which will reduce material sizes as well as partially knock gypsum off its backing paper. Material is then screened such that only gypsum material is then deposited into a hopper prior to a mixer assembly which mixes the various sizes of recycled gypsum into a consistent mixture prior to passing such material into a roll press subsystem for densifying such material to produce material of known and uniform composition suitable for cement manufacturing. Reclaimed gypsum in this specific physical form factor may then be used in significant portions as replacement for virgin gypsum in cement manufacture. The method and apparatus are applicable to the recycling of both new and renovation gypsum-based building material.

Provided is a method of producing poly(vinyl butyral) laminate from discarded laminated glass. By means of breaking the discarded laminated glass, water-washing and grinding the reduced glass fragments, a reusable poly(vinyl butyral) material substantially free of glass pieces is obtained by physical treatment without using any organic solvent. After drying, granulation and formation steps, a poly(vinyl butyral) laminate is further obtained from the poly(vinyl butyral) material. Accordingly, the method not only reduces resource waste but also produces a water-proof poly(vinyl butyral) laminate, and is more environmentally friendly and more applicable to industry.
