    摘要: A method of forming a container from a blank of sheet material using a machine is provided. The blank includes a bottom panel, two side panels, two end panels, and a reinforcing panel assembly extending from a first side panel. The machine includes a hopper station, a corner post forming station, and a plunger station. The method includes rotating the reinforcing panel assembly upwardly toward the first side panel as the blank is transported from the hopper station to the corner post forming station, forming a corner wall and a reinforcing end tab by folding reinforcing panels about fold lines as the blank is transported through the corner post forming station, rotating the side panels and the end panels to be substantially perpendicular to the bottom panel by directing the blank through the plunger station, and coupling the reinforcing end tab to an end panel to form the container.

    摘要: The invention concerns the equipment for forming of paper containers starting from a continuous wet paper belt. It comprises a mobile semi-mould and a fixed semi-mould defining an impression corresponding to the container to be produced. Around the mobile semi-mould (15) are provided concentrically an upper cutting blade (18), an upper pleating/crimping ring (19) and an upper rim former (20); around the fixed semi-mould (14) are provided a counter cutting blade (21), an upper counter pleating/crimping ring (22) and a counter rim former (23), associated respectively with the cutting blade, the pleating/crimping ring and rim former on board associated with a mobile semi-mould. And this, respectively, to cut from the initial paper tape a length of paper depending on the measurements of the container to be formed, to pleat/crimp a peripheral crown of said blank paper during the closing stroke of the semi-moulds, and to form a crimped rim around the lateral wall of the container during the opening stroke of said semi-moulds.

    摘要: An apparatus for pressforming a paperboard sheet into an articulable pressformed container. The apparatus includes a pair of male and female, matingly engagable dies, which have interfacing forming surfaces in the shape of a container for engaging a paperboard sheet. A first one of the dies has a plurality of ridges extending from the forming surface and a second one of the dies has a plurality of grooves within the forming surface. The grooves register with the ridges when the dies matingly engage for creating creases in the paperboard sheet. The invention also includes a method for simultaneously shaping the container and forming fold creases on the container thereby making the container articulable.

    摘要: A paperboard container and method of forming such container having a rolled brim is disclosed. The container being formed of a paperboard material having a caliper of at least approximately 0.007 inches, a rolled brim arc length of less than about 0.25 inches, an outer radius of curvature of the container cut through the plane normal to the axis of the rolled brim arc length adjacent the rolled brim being less than approximately 1.5 inches with the paperboard material forming the container having at least approximately 8 lbs/3,000 ft.sup.2 ream of size press adhesive included therein and preferably approximately 13 lbs/3,000 ft.sup.2 ream of paperboard material. One particular container includes dimensions wherein the outer radius of curvature of the container cut through the plane normal to the axis of the rolled brim arc length adjacent the rolled brim is approximately 1.25 inches while an inner radius of curvature of the container cut through the plane normal to the axis of the rolled brim arc length adjacent the rolled brim is at least 1.09 inches. Such a container is formed by initially providing a paperboard shell formed from a paperboard blank having an unfinished annular exposed edge; directing the unfinished annular edge into a forming surface of a forming die; urging the unfinished annular edge into the forming die and controlling an initial buckling point of the unfinished annular edge of the paperboard shell such that a substantially defect free prolate rolled toroidal brim is formed.

    摘要: A programmable, dynamically adjustable die stamping apparatus for die-stamping of cardboard blanks used in production of packaging trays, and a process for operating such apparatus. The apparatus includes a dimensionally adjustable die having a plurality of separate movable parts each coupled to threaded adjustment rods and drive motors; a programmable control is coupled to the drive equipment and can selectively adjust and lock the die parts to conform the die to any one of a plurality of cardboard blank formats. Plural air-operated lockable jacks coupled to movable members of a stamp are also provided, and the jacks operate to automatically adjust the stamp to conform to the selected dimensions of the die. The apparatus can accept plural magazines of cardboard blanks and a plurality of different blanks supplied successively; under program control, the apparatus can automatically change the dimensions of the die and stamp to conform to the desired dimensions of the finished tray.

The carrier is initially formed as a flat folded tube having a bottom wall, a top wall and transversely creased end walls, the top wall forming a central partition. The apparatus has a longitudinal partition former which is spaced to create a longitudinal slot and end formers which are spaced from the longitudinal formers to create end slots. A blade passing through a hole in the bottom wall engages the inside surface of the top wall to drive it into the longitudinal slot. This operation creates the central partition and simultaneously erects the end walls as the carrier is thrust into the forming apparatus.
