Abstract:
A resin composition including compounds represented by Formulas (1) and (TA); and a protective film for a polarizing plate and a display using the same: wherein A11 and A12 independently designate a heteroatom; Y11 and Y12 independently designate a hydrogen atom or a substituent; at least one of Y11 and Y12 has the Hammett's substituent constant σp value of 0.2 or more; Q11 designates a group of atoms required for forming a 5- or 6-membered ring bonded with A11, A12 and the carbon atom of >C═; R1a to R1e each independently designate a hydrogen atom or a substituent other than a hydroxy group; when at least one of R1a to R1e is a substituent, at least one has the Hammett's substituent constant σp value of 0.3 or more; and R1g to R1j and R1k to R1p independently designate a hydrogen atom or a substituent.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to substituted cellulose acetates and methods of use thereof. One embodiment of the present invention provides a drilling fluid having a base fluid and a viscosifier having a substituted cellulose acetate having a polar substituent that comprises an oxygen atom covalently bonded to a nonmetal selected from the group of sulfur, phosphorus, boron, and chlorine; where the nonmetal is present in at least about 0.01% by weight of the substituted cellulose acetate.
Abstract:
A protective film of polarizer comprising an organic acid that has a solubility in water at 25° C. of at most 0.1% by mass and has an acid dissociation constant in a mixed solvent of tetrahydrofuran/water=6/4 by volume at 25° C. of from 2 to 7 can improve polarizer durability.
Abstract:
Provided are a cellulose resin composition and cellulose resin film which are free from the problem of bleeding even when containing a plasticizer in a relatively large amount. The present invention relates to a cellulose resin composition obtained by adding (A) polyester plasticizer to a cellulose resin, wherein the aforementioned (A) polyester plasticizer is obtained by allowing a polybasic acid and a polyalcohol to react and 80 mol % or more of said polybasic acid is a succinic acid and an adipic acid. The present invention also relates to a cellulose resin film obtained from the cellulose-based resin composition.
Abstract:
A protective film of a polarizing plate comprising a cellulose ester film, wherein a variation in a weight of the cellulose ester film is 0 to 2% under a keeping condition of 80±5° C. and 90±10% RH for 48 hours.
Abstract:
A coating composition for applying a vanadium pentoxide antistatic layer on a photographic element comprising from about 0.02 to about 0.08 percent by weight of vanadium pentoxide, from about 0.04 to about 1.6 percent by weight of a cellulose acetate binder polymer, said binder polymer having an acetyl content of from about 15 percent to about 35 percent by weight and the balance a solvent mixture of from 7.5 to 70 percent by weight of a C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 dialkyl ketone, from 10 to 60 percent by weight of a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkanol and from 3 to 50 percent of water based on the weight of the solvent mixture.
Abstract:
A magnetic recording medium comprising a plastic base film, a thin magnetic metal layer formed on one side of the base film and a backing layer formed on the other side of the base film, characterized in that the backing layer is composed essentially of a thermoset or radiation-cured resin and carbon black dispersed in the resin, and has a surface roughness of from 0.05 to 0.4 .mu.m, said carbon black having an average particle size of from 10 to 60 m.mu.m as measured by an electron microscope.
Abstract:
Hydrophilic polymers, i.e., hydrophilic cellulose esters, hydrophilic cellulose ethers, hydrophilic polyurethanes, hydrophilic vinyl lower alkyl ether polymers, vinyl alcohol group containing polymers, partially hydrolized polyacrylonitrite, ethylene-maleic anhydride copolymer, stryene-maleic anhydride copolymer, proteins, high molecular weight polyalkylene oxides or phenoxy resins, having encapsulated therein either or both anti-fouling agents or pigments is applied as a coating to underwater portions of a marine structure so as to reduce the drag of said structure.
