摘要： An apparatus for automatically feeding one edge of a textile article to a sewing machine. The apparatus includes a first gripper adjacent to the sewing machine for gripping the leading portion of the edge of the textile article. A feed dog is adjacent to the first gripper for advancing the edge of the textile article with respect to the sewing machine. A second gripper grips the trailing portion of the edge of the textile article. A positioner supporting the second gripper means moves the second gripper with respect to the feed means. Finally, a programmable controller controls the movement of the positioner to advance the trailing portion of the edge of the textile article in response to the movement of the leading portion of the edge of the textile article.

摘要： A fabric rest board for use with a serger machine. The fabric rest board is an L-shaped, substantially flat, rigid piece. One leg of the L-shaped fabric rest board is positioned to extend substantially in parallel with, and along or adjacent to, an edge of a work table. The other leg of the L-shaped piece extends substantially perpendicular from the edge of the work table adjacent a bag attached to the serger machine for collecting cut pieces of fabric. The serger machine rests on the leg of the support piece which extends substantially parallel with, and along or adjacent to, the edge of the work table. The weight of the serger machine fixes the position of the fabric rest board on the work table. The operator uses the perpendicular leg to rest the fabric as the fabric is moved through the serger machine. The fabric is thereby prevented from falling between the serger machine and the operator which, if this occurs, can cause incorrect cuts or stitches.

摘要： An electric sewing machine comprises a casing with an electric drive motor mounted in the casing. The casing includes a recess defined in the base portion which opens on one end and receives a control member which fits in the recess. The control member carries a control for regulating the speed of the motor which includes a foot-pedal switch for operating a variable resistance to change the motor speed. The control member includes a reel over which a connecting cable is wound and which extends between the control in the housing of the control member through the casing to the motor. A winding mechanism permits the control member to be removed from the recess of the casing by permitting the unwinding of the cable without disconnecting it from the control. The winding mechanism includes a reel which is unwound with the cable and a spring for returning the reel when the cable is to be rewound for replacement of the control into the housing. Detent mechanisms associated with the reel permit the locking of the reel when the control member is removed from the recess by the amount of cable necessary to position it in a desired control position. The locking mechanism may be unlocked by pulling the connecting line slightly to release the detent means and permit the rewinding of the connecting cable on the reel during the replacement of the control member into the recess.

摘要： A cover construction for a sewing machine work support column which is adapted to contain a looper and a thread-cutting device comprises an upright support member or column upon which a substantially L-shaped cover member is pivotal. The cover member includes a cover plate portion which extends horizontally in a closed position and covers the top of the device and a side portion which extends vertically in a closed position. The cover plate member is openable to a position opened outwardly from the support member in which position the cover is located in a vertical position and the side portion in a horizontal position. The side portion includes two bearing faces which are defined on the back and the bottom faces thereof, respectively, and which will abut against a top bearing surface of a locking member which is displaceable along the height of the upright support member. In the open position, one bearing face on the side wall is engaged on the locking member and in the closed position, the bottom bearing face engages on the top of the locking member. The locking member is biased by a coil spring around the mounting member in an upward direction in which it contracts the bearing face on the side wall in an open position of the cover and the bearing face on the bottom wall in the closed position of the cover. In addition, the cover has a torsion spring associated with it which rotates it to an open position when the locking member is pushed downwardly against its biasing spring.

Other means are provided for holding such platform section in a selected lowered position. Legs or other suitable structure, such as a cabinet, supports the platform at a convenient working level.
