摘要： A sewing machine in combination with a work piece control and advancing mechanism and a microprocessor for setting sleeves in shirt bodies. A sleeve and shirt body are manually loaded on the work piece control and advancing mechanism and placed under the presser foot and the individual edge guides. An automatic sew cycle is then actuated that is under the control of the microprocessor. During the automatic sew cycle the sewing machine operator is free to prepare to load the next product.

摘要： A thread chain back-tacker for an overlock sewing machine eliminates defective back-tacking. The back-tacker includes a thread chain cutter, an adjuster for adjusting the length of free thread chain after the end of back-tacking, a presser foot, an air nozzle, a thread drawing nozzle, a thread clamp cylinder, a nozzle swing cylinder, a nozzle pulling cylinder, a cylinder retainer coupling the nozzle swing cylinder and nozzle pulling cylinder together, a position adjuster bolt provided on the cylinder retainer for adjusting a stop position of the thread drawing nozzle, a speed setting/releasing unit, a venturi unit, an air breaking valve, and a solenoid for on-off operating the air breaking valve. The presser foot includes a presser body, a presser foot chain shield secured to the rear end of the presser body, and a presser foot stitch tongue secured to a central portion of the presser body. The presser foot stitch tongue has its back surface provided with a groove for guiding a thread chain and also has a top guide for guiding the thread chain into the groove. Not only is it possible to eliminate curling of the cloth end at the start of back-tacking and projection of the thread chain, but also it is possible to eliminate loosening of upper looper yarn. Satisfactory back-tacking results thus are obtainable, and needle breakage or the like is prevented.

In the tape sewing process, when the sewing front end makes a full turn and reaches the thickness detecting sensor and this sensor detects that the quantity of transmitted light is lower than a specific level, the stitch counter begins to count the number of stitches, and when the low level continues over a specific number of stitches, the tape cutter is actuated.

摘要： A method and a mechanical assembly are disclosed for mounting, on angular areas of a mattress-enveloping bed sheet or similar article, segments of elastic band to elasticize said angular areas. The method requires that the angular transversal seams which unite adjacent flaps of the sheet pairwise by detected by a thickness gauge so as to generate a signal going to a stitch counting assembly (SCA) wherein a preselected number of stitches corresponding to the angular area to be elasticized has been preselected. The sewing machine is thus started and begins to stitch the continuously fed fabric; meanwhile, a double fold is formed on the fabric edge by a specially provided shaping device. Immediately after, the elastic band feeding device enters action and introduce the elastic band in the fabric double fold for a time determined by the Stitch Counting Assembly (SCA) and the sewing machine sews the elastic band and the folded fabric together. As the preselected number of stitches has been applied, the elastic band feeding mechanism is withdrawn, the elastic band is locally twisted and a snipping blade housed in the presser foot of the sewing machine snips the elastic band the cycle is restarted and repeated until all the four corner areas of the bed-clothes article have been elasticized.

摘要： A device for feeding to a sewing machine a strip of fabric, in particular a longitudinally folded band to serve as a pocket welt, comprises a generally oval-shaped guide mountable on the sewing-machine base and provided with sides shaped as U-profiles and with a tongue at an output end for folding a fabric strip upon passage thereof along a feed path to a sewing station at the machine. A beam of light from a gallium-arsenide source traverses the feed path in the region of the tongue to energize a photocell upon passage of a workpiece, the photocell being connected to a stitch counter for activating the same upon energization by the source. The guide has a length scale with graduations spaced in the direction of the feed path for implementing the manual positioning of a fabric strip prior to the feeding thereof to the sewing station, while the stitch counter is operationally coupled to the reciprocating sewing-needle drive to arrest the same upon counting a predetermined number of stitches. The positioning of a fabric strip via the scale and the automatic stopping of the sewing-machine drive by the photocell-activated counter ensure a precise positioning of a final stitch relative to a sewn welt.

Sleeves and shirt bodies are presented to the operator at the work station in a manner that they can be easily and quickly grasped which enables the operator to load the work piece components on one machine while the automatic sew cycle of the other machine being performed. The sewn products in both the intermediate and final stage are automatically removed from the sewing machines and discharged to a completed product tray.
