摘要: Stalks of crop material, especially straw, are incinerated by comminuting them to pieces having a length of substantially 8 to 10 cm, pneumatically transporting the stalks to a separator in which the air is separated from the stalks and the stalks are then compacted and advanced in a rising bed into a furnace. Within the furnace, a low temperature distillation is initially effected and combustion is promoted along the free surface of the bed, in part sustained by the gases produced by the distillation. Ash as it is formed on the surface is entrained away with the hot gases. The ash is separated from the hot gases and advantageously collected in a water basin while the hot gases can be used for agricultural drying purposes and the ash for fertilizer.

摘要: The present invention relates to the preparation and burning of biomass-derived fuels such as wood waste or peat. Wood waste or "hog fuel" from the forest industries is of particular interest. Normally the entire stream of this material must be finely ground if it is to be successfully burned in an air suspension burner without any fossil fuel support. It has now been discovered that a bimodally sized fuel can be used. Only about 10-20% of the total heat energy is provided from a portion ground to a size less than about 100 .mu.m. This serves as an ignition component for a principal fuel which may be of much larger size. The usual hog fuel pile contains both bark and wood. Of these two materials, bark is much more friable and easily ground to fine particle size than wood. A major reduction in grinding energy is achieved by selecting the more friable material to be ground to fine size as the ignition fuel. The more resistant material is used as the principal fuel. When using a bimodal system, best results are obtained when the amount of ignition fuel sent to the burner is maintained constant. Load swings are accommodated by varying only the principal fuel component.

摘要: A fluidized bed furnace and boiler for the combustion of flyash with a moisture content of 45% by weight. The flyash is produced as a by-product of a coal gasification process and transported in water to a slime dam. From the slime dam a slurry of flyash and water is initially thickened in a gravity thickener (1) (FIG. 1) and then converted to filter cake in a tubular filter press (4). The filter cake is fed through pressurized hoppers (8) and chutes to the base of the boiler (10) and is distributed across the floor through chutes in the side walls and through chutes surrounded by a tubular array of water tubes and extending into the boiler furnace chamber terminating approximately one quarter of the furnace width from the side walls. A fluidized bed with a depth of about 3 meters is formed by discharging air heated in an associated air heater through nozzles in the floor of the furnace chamber to effect combustion. The combustion gases are utilized to produce steam in the boiler and are passed through a grits separator (32) and bag filter ( 34) before discharge through a flue (36).

摘要: Method for drying aqueous solid fuels, in which method the fuel is heated indirectly in a dryer by means of a heating medium heated in a boiler plant or the like and in which the steam formed in the dryer serves as a heating and transport medium. Oil or some other liquid having a boiling point higher than water is used as the indirect heating medium. Preferably oil is heated in the boiler plant up to the temperature of 300.degree. to 400.degree. C. at a 1 bar pressure. Heat surfaces of a lamella heat exchanger suitably serves as the heat transfer surfaces of the dryer.

摘要: The specification describes a method and arrangements for operating fluidized bed combustors in particular boilers. In the described method and arrangements thermal energy carried away from the combustor by the flue-gas emitted therefrom is recuperated by passing the flue-gas through a scrubber in which it is scrubbed with water. The scrubbing water subsequently being used to pre-heat fluidizing gas fed to the fluidized bed in the combustor and/or working fluid fed to the boiler. Additional description is given of using a heat exchanger through which both flue-gases from the combustor and the working fluid fed to the combustor are fed such that the heat carried away from the combustor in the flue-gases is given directly to the working fluid fed to the combustor. In the described method and arrangements the fluidizing gas may be charged with water vapor and/or steam easing control of the bed.

摘要: Heterogeneous municipal solid waste is pneumatically separated in a first stage into relatively heavy incombustible and lighter weight combustible fractions. The first stage light combustible fraction is further pneumatically separated in a second stage into heavier grade fuel and lighter grade fuel fractions. In a third stage still further separation may be effected of the second stage lighter grade fraction into a heavier fraction suitable for other uses such as in the manufacture of certain building materials and a lightest fraction most suitable for air suspension boiler or kiln firing. Primary shredding of all of the solid waste to be pneumatically separated, and final reshredding of the fuel grade materials are provided for to attain maximum combustion efficiency.Apparatus for effecting large volume continuous process multi-stage pneumatic separation comprises serially connected pneumatic tower separators including means for controlling air velocity and volume to meet a wide variety of conditions in the solid waste materials being handled.

摘要: This invention relates to the treatment of wastes including sewage, solids which may include both combustible and incombustible solids, and optionally waste fuel such as oil. The invention provides a method and plant for treating wastes in which solids are converted to an incineratable form which, in a first embodiment, is incinerated with the sewage solids obtained by separating the sewage into a sewage solids component and a clarified waste water component together with additional fuel if necessary, at least a part of said clarified waste water component being optionally incinerated to control temperatures during incineration, and any remaining waste water being disinfected. In a second embodiment the incineratable material is incinerated with the sewage together with the waste fuel and additional fuel if necessary. The invention has the advantage that it is applicable to all types of waste, and the products of incineration are deodorized waste gases, incombustible and sterile ash, and in one embodiment additionally disinfected waste water, thus avoiding pollution problems.
