    摘要: The adherence of hydrophilic layers to dimensionally stable polyester films is improved by means of an adhesive layer by a process comprising applying the adhesive layer to an at most monoaxially stretched polyester film, stretching the thus covered polyester film biaxially or in a direction perpendicular to the first stretching direction and heat-setting the thus treated film at 180.degree.-225.degree. C, whereafter a hydrophilic coating is applied to the heat-set adhesive layer. This adhesive layer consists essentially of about 25-60% by weight of a chlorine-containing copolymer, 15-40% by weight of a butadiene copolymer, and 2-10% by weight of a water-soluble melamine-formaldehyde or hydandoin-formaldehyde resin and is free of gelatin.

    摘要: The present invention relates to film base material. A film of synthetic linear polyester has superimposed thereon a phenoxy resin of the formula ##SPC1##Wherein each of R.sub.1 to R.sub.7 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl or cyclohexyl group, R.sub.8 is a hydrogen atom or an acyl radical of the formula ##EQU1## wherein m is 0 to 6, at least one of X, Y and Z is a chlorine or bromine atom or a cyano group, the other of X, Y and Z are each hydrogen atoms or bromine or chlorine atoms, n is at least 50 and from 50 to 100 % of the R.sub.8 groups are a said acyl residue. An improved adhesion between the film base material of this composition and a hydrophilic layer coated thereon is achieved.

    摘要: Improved adherence is obtained for sheet material having a hydrophobic film support or base, such as a hydrophobic cellulose ester or poly ester, by the combination of a vinyl polymer subbing layer arranged directly on the hydrophobic support, the subbing layer being formed of a copolymer containing at least 45 percent by weight of vinylidene chloride and/or vinyl chloride monomer along with a minor amount of a hydrophilic vinyl monomer with the balance being constituted by any other vinyl monomer, and superimposed upon the vinyl subbing layer a layer containing a mixture of gelatin with a copolymer of butadiene and a vinyl monomer containing 30-70 percent by weight of butadiene, the ratio of the gelatin to the butadiene copolymer being in the range of 1:3 to 2:1 by weight. An additional layer can be applied over the gelatin/copolymer layer and constituted by such ingredients as are desirable for the particular utility of the resultant sheet material, such as electrophotographic layers containing finely divided photoconductive material such as zinc oxide or some other photosensitive semi-conductive material, mat layers containing pigment, diffusion transfer layers containing development nuclei and so on. Alternatively, the ingredients appropriate to some particular ultimate utility can be incorporated into the gelatin/butadiene copolymer layer directly.

    摘要: Solvent soluble carboxylated polyester subbing materials for photographic elements. An organic solvent soluble polyester is carboxylated by treatment, during the latter stages of polymerization, with an organic dianhydride to produce an organic solvent soluble carboxylated polyester. The solvent soluble carboxylated polyester is effectively used in subbing compositions, desirably containing attack solvent, e.g., coated onto a polyester photographic film support and has excellent adhesion both to the support and to conventional gelatincellulose ester subbing layers used to adhere a gelatino silver halide emulsion to the support.
