    Abstract: Small communication systems do not have a sufficiently large memory to store the vast amount of data required to determine the cost of interstate telephone calls using the conventional method. The disclosed telephone call cost establishing method and apparatus compresses the amount of data required by supplying a set of coordinates for a central point in each area code. The cost of an interstate call to any central office in an area code is then determined using the coordinates of the central point for that area code. Additionally, certain types of calls are priced using a predetermined price code stored in a variety of tables such as toll call allowed, frequently called numbers, personal line and facility tables.

    Abstract: A telephone interconnect detection system for selectively determining, during operation, interconnection of a plurality of trunk lines with a plurality of set lines interconnected by a pbx or the like. The system includes a processor for selecting in sequential order ones of the trunk lines according to a predetermined logic, and generating trunk and set operation control signals; a pulse generator for generating a limited bandwidth and duration sensing pulse within the audio bandwidth of the pbx; a multiplexer for selectively applying one of the sensing pulses to one or more selected trunk lines for transmission of the pulse through the pbx; a selectively operable band-reject filter connected to the trunk lines and tuned to the frequency of the sensing pulse, the filter operating in response to the trunk operation signal to attenuate the pulse for inhibiting its outbound transmission over the trunk lines; a detector connected to the set lines for detecting the presence of the sensing pulse on any one or more of the set lines, and identifying those one or more set lines; and a selectively operable second band-reject filter connected to the set lines and tuned to the frequency of the sensing pulse, the filter operating in response to the set operation signal to attenuate the sensing pulse for inhibiting its outbound transmission over the set lines. The first and second filters include a plurality of individual two stage filters, one filter being connected to each of the trunk and set lines.

    Abstract: An apparatus enables communication between a user device and a communication server. The apparatus receives a device identifier of the user device and determines after searching a device-to-token database that the device identifier is not associated with any device communication token. The apparatus activates a predetermined application on the user device, and thereafter receives a device communication token of the predetermined application. A mapping of the device communication token with the device identifier is stored in the device-to-token database after which a communication account is created for the user device on a communication server. A login credential for the communication account is sent to the user device in a message addressed to the predetermined application and transmitted via a message server. The predetermined application on the user device receives the message, and thereafter automatically logs in to the communication server according to the login credential in the message.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described that provide for directing a voice or video call using least cost dialing. Rules for directing a call may be generated by a server or a mobile device. The rules may be applied at a mobile device, facilitating a least-cost call with little or no input from the user of the mobile device. The rules may be based on identifying information about a caller or an intended call, or both. In determining what constitutes a least-cost option, a number of resources and factors, both monetary and non-monetary, may be considered. In some examples, a call identifier may be sent from a mobile device to a server, and the mobile device may receive, in response, one or more rules for directing a call. The rules may be applied at the mobile device, and the call may be placed accordingly.
