Abstract:
Various embodiments of the present invention generally relate to systems and methods for identifying suspicious orders for controlled substances based on performing checks on a received order using historical information on previous orders. According to various embodiments, these checks may include: (1) comparing the order quantity for the received order with the order quantity history for the customer who placed the order for the controlled substance; (2) comparing the order quantity and the days since the last order was shipped to the customer for the same controlled substance with the order quantity history and the days between orders for the particular customer and controlled substance; (3) comparing the order quantity with order quantity history for orders received by customers of the same type for the controlled substance; and (4) comparing the order quantity with order quantity history for any customer for the particular controlled substance.
Abstract:
Generally described, under one aspect of the invention, an indicia associated with a delivery modification authorization left at an intended recipient's first location. This indicia is nulllinkednull to the parcel(s) that were intended for delivery to the first location. This can be done by a handheld portable data acquisition device that includes a scanning or reading means, allowing information to be acquired from the delivery modification authorization as well as from the parcels, and stored on the handheld portable data acquisition device. The indicia is then used to access alternate delivery instructions that have been established by the intended recipient. The alternate delivery instructions are provided to the delivery agent. The parcel(s) are then delivered in accordance with the alternate delivery instructions.
Abstract:
A system for projecting a display onto an item or parcel is disclosed, using an acquisition device to capture indicia on each parcel, a tracking system, a controller or computer to select the display based on the indicia, and one or more display projectors. In one embodiment the display includes or connotes a handling instruction. The system in one embodiment includes a laser projection system to paint the selected display directly onto a selected exterior surface of the corresponding parcel, for multiple parcels simultaneously. The system may be configured to move each display in order follow each moving parcel so that each display remains legible to a viewer in a display zone where handling takes place. This Abstract is provided quickly inform a reader about the subject matter, and not for use interpreting the scope or meaning of the claims.
Abstract:
Generally described, under on aspect of the invention, a single unique delivery notice is left at the particular location. However, just before it is left, this notice is electronically nulllinkednull to the parcel(s) which were undeliverable. This can be done by a handheld portable data acquisition device which includes a conventional scanning means, allowing information to be scanned from the delivery notice as well as labels on the parcels, and stored on the handheld portable data acquisition device. If ten parcels were undeliverable, only one delivery notice is left behind but is electronically nulllinkednull to all ten packages. The intended recipient can then contact the delivery service via the internet (or other suitable network) or by phone, by using information provided on the delivery notice. By providing the delivery service with unique information from the delivery notice, the intended recipient can get valuable information regarding the undelivered parcels. Such information can include shipper name, how many packages from each shipper, time of attempted delivery, COD status, etc. Arrangements can then be made to have the package(s) redelivered, held at a local operation center, redirected, or returned.
Abstract:
A product delivery system that moves products from manufacturing plant to destination. Particularly applicable to the delivery of vehicles from vehicle assembly plants to dealerships, the system utilizes a centralized management organization overseeing independent entities in a delivery network, and provides a management team with improved visibility of and improved tools for operating the network, such as a tracking system by which managers in many parts of the network have access to the status of individual products and network facilities, a simulation tool by which managers can test scenarios for the purpose of changing product routing plans based on predicted capacity and bottlenecks, and a planning tool that can facilitate preparation of product routing plans in response to information from the other tools. The system also uses feedback from the delivery network to influence the sequence in which the products are manufactured.
Abstract:
A delivery scheduling system that is configured for scheduling the delivery of an item or service from a sender to an intended recipient. After receiving a signal indicating that, for example, a particular package is to be delivered to an intended recipient, the system attempts to establish interactive contact with the recipient either by direct contact with the recipient, or by leaving the recipient a message to establish direct contact with the system at a convenient time. Upon establishing contact with the recipient, the system allows the intended recipient to schedule delivery of the package. More particularly, the recipient may schedule the package to be delivered: (1) within a particular time window; (2) before or after a particular time of day; or (3) on a particular day.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an apparatus, system and method for collecting, storing and time-stamping telematics data. A programmable ogic control unit is described that is connected to one or more sensors mounted on a vehicle to capture, time-stamp and store telematics data. And, upon the happening of a triggering event, time-stamped telematics data is transferred from the control until to an external device via wireless or other communications methods.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses systems and methods for the provision of shipping labels for use in returning parts distributed to field service technicians. A system is disclosed that processes a service parts order request against one or more rules and generates return shipping labels that are printed and enclosed in packages with service parts. Field service technicians use the appropriate return shipping label to identify the status of the service part and insure the timely return of both used and unused service parts to a facility equipped to handle them.
Abstract:
The present invention is an improved shipping system that provides for third-party billing and shipment of a package from a first location to a second location where neither the first or second location is the location of the third-party. An embodiment is disclosed in which a pre-existing call-tag system is modified to permit third-party billing and anywhere to anywhere functionality.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for palletizing rectangular packages received in random size and weight. A nullcornernull-based modeling system is used to assist in evaluating possible placements of packages accumulated on a line conveyor, and a placement evaluation process is used to select a nullbestnull package placement based on heuristic analysis. Statistically-based measurement and comparison is used to assist in the evaluation process.
