Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed towards associating a distributed unit (a baseband function) with a radio unit, corresponding to a service area, when the radio unit transitions from an idle state to an active state with respect to serving user equipment. When an idle radio unit receives a message requesting connection from a formerly idle user equipment, or user equipment to be served due to a handover, the message triggers assignment of a distributed unit to the radio unit, whereby the radio unit becomes active to serve the user equipment. If insufficient distributed unit capacity exists, a new distributed unit is dynamically instantiated and assigned to the radio unit. When a radio unit transitions from active to idle, the radio unit is disassociated from the distributed unit. If a distributed unit is not associated with any radio unit, the distributed unit is deactivated to reduce resource consumption.

For instance, one method for integrating RTT communications with video services includes receiving a real time text call intended for a recipient in a home network, forwarding the real time text call to a first device in the home network, receiving a signal to redirect the real time text call to a second device in the home network that is different from the first device, and forwarding the real time text call to the second device, in response to the signal.

Abstract: Architectures and techniques are presented that provide an improved mechanism for a subscriber entity to report to a network provider a network issue that affects the performance of an application that uses a service provided by the network provider. The improved mechanism can enable fine granularity with respect to the network issue by identifying the issue on a per-session basis. In response to feedback data that is reported by the subscriber entity, the network provider can perform self-healing or other upgrade techniques to rapidly remedy the network issue.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method in which a processing system authenticates a communication device roaming from a home network that does not support Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) roaming, and in which the processing system communicates with a packet gateway (PGW) of an evolved packet core (EPC) separate from the processing system, to facilitate communication between the communication device and a subsystem of the EPC; the subsystem emulates the home network to provide a VoLTE roaming service to the communication device. The communication device also engages in a session initiation protocol (SIP) with the subsystem to initiate a communication session with the subsystem; in accordance with the communication session, the subsystem provides the VoLTE roaming service to the communication device.
