Abstract:
A computing device allows remote access to internal storage component via a remote access interface, e.g., USB, port. The electronic device or computing device contains a motherboard with modified internal circuitry that allows access to the internal storage component via the remote access port. Bus arbitration circuitry, within the motherboard of the computing device, arbitrates between a host CPU and the remote access interface port. Power arbitration circuitry, within the motherboard of the computing device, arbitrates between an internal power supply and power available at the remote access port. The bus arbitration and power arbitration are based upon a predetermined rules as well as an intelligent adaptive set of rules. Internal storage component access is provided based on authorization rules. The internal storage component may be accessed by an external processing circuitry even when the electronic device or computing device is powered down or not in working condition.
Abstract:
An Internet infrastructure that supports searching of images by correlating a search image with that of plurality of images hosted in Internet based servers, containing an image search server, and a web browser contained in a client device that supports displaying of the images. The image search server supports delivery of search result pages to a client device based upon a search string or search image, and contains images from a plurality of Internet based web hosting servers. The image search server delivers a search result page containing images upon receiving a search string and/or search image from the web browser. The selection of images in the search result page is based upon: (i) word match, that is, by selecting images, titles of which correspond to the search string; and (ii) image correlation, that is, by selecting images, image characteristics of which correlates to that of search image. The selection of images in the search result page also occurs on the basis of popularity.
Abstract:
A system providing support for user transactions in a media exchange network is disclosed. An embodiment of the present invention may comprise a television display, storage, and a set top box, and may provide an interface device for receiving from a user associated authorization device, information for authorizing user transactions via a communication network. A user transaction may comprise the exchange, purchase, storage, or consumption of media such as, for example, audio, still images, video, and data. The communication network may comprise, for example, a cable infrastructure, a digital subscriber line infrastructure, a wireless infrastructure, and may be the Internet. The system may provide for the completion of the user transaction without divulging the identity of the user to a vendor.
Abstract:
An Internet infrastructure that supports searching of web links wherein a user profile is used to reorder search results in a search result list for improved searching. The Internet infrastructure consists of a plurality client devices with web browsers that are incorporated with user-profiling modules and a search engine server. The process of searching and reordering includes the search engine server receiving a search string along with a user profile from the user-profiling module (or retrieving the user profile from a database). Then, the search engine server stores the user profile in a database that is associated with the search engine server and delivers search results based upon the search string, and reorders the search results based upon stored data in the database.
Abstract:
A search engine server supports delivery of search results to a web browser of a client device. The client device is communicatively coupled to the search engine server via the Internet. The system identifies new web pages in a source language during crawling, translates them into a plurality of destination languages, creates reverse indexes in respective languages, and stores both reverse indexes and cache web pages in a database. Upon the entry of search strings by a user using a web browser, the search engine server responds by delivering links of web pages in the user-desired language (the language of the search string or a language chosen by the user) as well as web pages translated from a plurality of destination languages, ranked based upon popularity or other means. The search engine server contains a plurality of translators that translate new web pages, links that are obtained during crawling, in to a plurality of destination languages.
Abstract:
A video processing system receives a plurality of video inputs and specifically tailors them to meet the audio/video format requirements of a plurality of recipient video devices. The video processing system may be incorporated into a set top box, personal video recorder, video player, television, or video equipment. The video processing system in the set top box allows multiple users to receive video programs or television broadcasts meeting the audio/video format requirements of the recipient devices of the users. The video processing system allows user to define the audio/video formats of the recipient devices. Alternatively, the video processing system queries the recipient devices and obtains the audio/video format requirements of the video devices. The video processing system delivers multiple audio/video outputs, reformatted from a plurality of audio/video sources on the basis of user input, wirelessly in the operational region or by a wired means to a number of video devices. The processing itself involves transcoding the analog or digital input signals to produce analog and digital output video formats as needed.
Abstract:
An Internet infrastructure is provided to transfer a packet of data between a client device and source device. The infrastructure consists of a support server that screens the packet for malware codes on behalf of a registered client. In order to scan for malware, the support server contains hardware and/or software modules to perform malware detection and quarantine functions. The modules identify malware bit sequence in the packet(s), malware bit sequences or entire contaminated code is quarantined or repaired as appropriate. After identification of malware code (if any), the support server sends warning messages to affected parties, providing information regarding the malware codes that were detected.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing quality-of-service based network resource allocation and utilization in a dynamic network environment. For example, a wireless communication network may comprise a first system and a second system. The first system may provide a current service to a user at a current quality level. The first system and second system may establish a wireless communication link. At least one of the first and second systems may determine whether utilizing one or more resources of the second system will provide the current service to the user at a higher level of quality than the current quality level. One or more resources of the second system may be allocated for providing the current service to a user at a higher quality level. The allocated resources may be utilized to provide the current service to the user at a higher quality level than the current quality level.
Abstract:
The system and methods herein provide feedback of a web page quality/legitimacy factor, various user interaction parameters, a contact address correlation factor, and an explicit web page rating on the reverse path from the client to the severs for Internet search operations. This operation facilitates to improve the quality of websites/web pages and enhances the efficiency of the Internet search operation. This reverse communication also allows for the automatic blockage of any illegitimate websites due to poor “contact address correlation factor” and poor “web page quality factor.” The rating of the websites is based on a computed number called “web page quality factor.” The “web page quality factor” is communicated in the reverse path of Internet search operation back to various whois servers, domain registrars, and web servers on the Internet to further improve quality. This facilitates the filtering of scammers, squatters, illegal/unwanted sites, etc., which have low “web page quality factor” rating resulting in high efficiency of search operations.
Abstract:
Systems and methods that provide remote access are described In one embodiment, a system may include, for example, a plurality of communication devices and a media device. The plurality of communication devices may be operatively coupled to a network and may include, for example, a native communication device The media device may be operatively coupled to the native communication device and the network. The media device may be associated with the native communication device and the network and may be capable of exchanging media content with the plurality of communication devices and the network. A profile of the media device may be stored in at least one of the media device and the native communication device.
