Abstract: A light module can comprise a light emitting diode that generates light and an optic that manipulates or manages the resulting light. The optic can direct the generated light off axis, resulting in an illumination pattern that is biased towards one side of the light module, for example in a desired direction. Thus, the optic can transform the emission pattern of the light emitting diode to create an illumination pattern that is aimed in a desired direction. The optic can comprise a light-blocking shield to suppress, manage, or redirect light that would otherwise emanate from the light module in an unintended direction, for example opposite the desired direction.

Abstract: A lighting device include a first string of light emitting diodes (LEDs) to emit a white light having a warm white Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) and a second string of LEDs. The second string of LEDs includes blue light LEDs that emit a blue light and green light LEDs that emit a green light. The lighting device further includes a tuning circuit to adjust an amount of current flowing through the second string of LEDs. The warm white light, the blue light and the green light produce a combined light, and a CCT of the combined light is tuned by adjusting the amount of current flowing through the second string of LEDs.

Abstract: A stud mounting bracket for a junction box includes a mounting extension extending outward from a longitudinal end margin of a main body. The mounting extension includes a mounting body connected to the longitudinal end margin of the main body and an extension tab connected to the mounting body. The extension tab is pivotable relative to the mounting body about an axis from a compact configuration to an extended configuration to increase the length of the mounting extension. A box mounting bracket for mounting a junction box on a stud mounting bracket includes first and second jaws. The first and second jaws engage the stud mounting bracket for use in attaching the box mounting bracket to the stud mounting bracket. The first and second jaws are resiliently deflectable both relative to the base and independent of one another when attaching the box mounting bracket to the stud mounting bracket.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a conduit coupler including a hub and a lock nut that thread on the hub. In one example, the lock nut includes a ground connection location including a linear wire retention slot. Abstract: A communications system capable of being used to add capacity to a wireless mesh network is described herein. In one exemplary embodiment, a communications system includes a primary gateway device having a first identifier, and a first plurality of communications devices assigned the first identifier. The primary gateway device provides network access to a communications server and describes a first segment of the communications system including the first plurality. The communications system also includes at least one auxiliary gateway device having a second identifier and an auxiliary gateway designation that allows hierarchical independence of the first segment. A second plurality of communications devices can be included that are assigned the first identifier but also able to establish communications association with the auxiliary gateway device to use the second identifier such that, when the second plurality seek to communicate with a communications server, the auxiliary gateway device is structured to facilitate the communications.

Abstract: A data compression/decompression methodology and system stores in a compression-side dictionary the data that has been transmitted and additionally applies to such data in the compression-side dictionary a status of being “invalid” for purposes of use as a reference in data compression until an acknowledgement signal has been received from the decompression side indicating that such data has been received. Once the compression side has received the acknowledgement signal indicating that the data in the form of a compressed data packet has been received on the decompression side, the status is changed from being “invalid” into being “valid”, i.e., into being usable as reference data for use in compressing further data elements in the data stream. Each data packet includes a stream index which is representative of the memory location in the compression-side dictionary where the first data element of the uncompressed data set of the data packet is stored.

Abstract: A processor receives data associated with a device. On the basis of the data associated with the device, the processor modulates a light from the artificial light source at a rate imperceptible to a human eye while detectable by a light sensor device. The modulated light is representative of the data associated with the device. The modulated light is detected, demodulated, and decoded by the light sensor device to retrieve the data associated with the device. Further, the data associated with the device is presented by the light sensor device to a user. In addition, the light sensor device is configured to receive input data from the user and communicate the input data to the processor via a wireless link. The processor is configured to receive the input data from the light sensor device and effect a change in a characteristic of the device based on the received input data.

Abstract: A system for starting an internal combustion engine includes a battery system, a charger to receive DC battery power from the battery system and convert the power to a DC charging current, a supercapacitor array having a plurality of supercapacitor cells connected to the charger to receive the DC charging current therefrom, and a motor starter to start the internal combustion engine responsive to a DC input from the supercapacitor array. The charger modifies a voltage of the supercapacitor cells in an on-demand fashion, with the charger programmed to provide DC charging current to the supercapacitor array to hold the supercapacitor cells at a first voltage, receive a bump-up command indicative of an upcoming engine start and, responsive to receiving the bump-up command, provide DC charging current to the supercapacitor array to increase a voltage of the supercapacitor cells temporarily to a second voltage higher than the first voltage.
