Abstract: A novel critical supplementary apparatus, when used in conjuction with U.S. Pat. No. 6,533,673, collectively completes the sphere of practical operation of a convexo-concave bowling ball retrieving device that captures, guides, lifts and deposits in one smooth continuous flowing motion a bowling ball for subsequent discharge into a bowling ball return. U.S. Pat. No. 6,533,673 addresses the inherent lack of friction problems found in Brunswick automatic pinsetter bowling machines, models A and A2 but is unable to comply with a similar problematic lack of friction situation found in the remainder of Brunswick product line—models Factory A2 and the Jetback. The models Factory A2 and Jetback don't have adaquite clearance between the bowling ball retrieving device 1 that is mounted on the rotating ball return wheel 6 (as disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 6,533,673) and the 1 HP motor mount shaft 19. This critical adapter device 18 circumvents this clearance obstacle by allowing for an abrupt change in the linear profile of the 1 HP motor mount shaft 19.

Abstract: A system, apparatus, and method to recover a logical volume on a read-only physical volume, or data storage cartridge, within a dual copy data storage system, such as a virtual tape server (VTS) system. The recovery follows a disaster situation involving the primary physical volume and the requested logical volume. The system, apparatus, and method include modules and steps as required to recover a logical volume through recalling a selective dual copy of the logical volume stored on a secondary physical volume. The primary and secondary logical volumes are stored on distinct physical volumes in order to provide quality storage media management and reduce the likelihood of loss of data. The recovery and recall procedures are implemented in a manner that is substantially transparent and asynchronous to a host or client. Additionally, the recovery and recall require no additional input from the host in order to carry out the recovery of the logical volume.

Abstract: Provided is a system and method for converting digital data audio data audio data that has a predetermined input sample rate, into an analog data signal. A system includes a digital to analog converter (DAC) including a digital processing portion configured to receive as an input the digital audio data and timing information, the timing information being representative of a time base of the input sample rate. The digital processing portion is similarly configured to digitally process the digital audio data and the timing information to produce serialized output data. The DAC also includes an analog processing portion configured to convert serialized data to an analog format. The digital processing portion operates in accordance with at least one clock having a corresponding clock rate wherein the corresponding clock rate is unrelated to the input sample rate.

Abstract: Computer systems and methods allow users to annotate content items found in a corpus such as the World Wide Web. Annotations, which can include any descriptive and/or evaluative metadata related to a document, are collected from a user and stored in association with that user. Users are able to annotate and view their annotations for any document they encounter while interacting with the corpus, including hits returned in a search of the corpus. Users are also able to search their annotations or to limit searches to documents they have annotated. Metadata from annotations can also be aggregated across users and aggregated metadata applied in generating search results.
