Abstract: A method may include: providing bio waste stream wherein the bio waste stream comprises at least one bio waste selected from the group consisting of palm oil mill effluent, soapstock, and combinations thereof; introducing the bio waste effluent stream into a fluidized catalytic cracking unit; contacting the bio waste with a catalyst in the fluidized catalytic cacking unit; and cracking at least a portion of the bio waste stream to form cracked products that comprise a cracked product stream.

Abstract: Isomerization of normal paraffins to form branched paraffins may be complicated by significant cracking of C7+ paraffins under isomerization reaction conditions. This issue may complicate upgrading of hydrocarbon feeds having significant quantities of heavier normal paraffins. Cracking selectivity may be decreased by combining one or more naphthenic compounds with a feed mixture comprising at least one C7+ normal paraffin and/or by utilizing tungstated zirconium catalysts having decreased tungsten loading. Further, C5 and C6 normal paraffins may undergo isomerization in the presence of C7+ normal paraffins. Methods for isomerizing normal paraffins may comprise: providing a feed mixture comprising at least C5-C7 normal paraffins and lacking normal paraffins larger than C8; and contacting the feed mixture with a bifunctional mixed metal oxide catalyst under isomerization reaction conditions effective to form a product mixture comprising one or more branched paraffins formed from each of the C5-C7 normal paraffins.

Abstract: A method for producing a blended jet boiling range composition stream may include: oligomerizing an ethylene stream to a C4+ olefin stream in a first olefin oligomerization unit, wherein the C4+ olefin stream contains no greater than 10 wt % of methane, ethylene, and ethane combined; wherein the ethylene stream contains at least 50 wt % ethylene, at least 2000 wppm ethane, no greater than 1000 wppm of methane, and no greater than 20 wppm each of carbon monoxide and hydrogen; oligomerizing the C4+ olefin stream and a propylene/C4+ olefin stream in a second oligomerization unit to produce an isoolefinic stream; subjecting at least a portion of the isoolefinic stream to a hydroprocessing process with hydrogen as treat gas to produce an isoparaffinic stream having no greater than 10 wt % olefin content; and using least a portion of the isoparaffinic stream to create the blended jet boiling range.

Abstract: Provided herein are methods and systems of making a high quality isoparaffinic base stock which include contacting an adsorbent material with a hydrocarbon feedstock and a solvent and separating at least some of the one or more high VI components from the hydrocarbon feedstock to produce a first fraction base stock having a first fraction base stock viscosity index. The adsorbent material is desorbed with a second solvent to produce a second fraction base stock having a second fraction base stock viscosity index. In these methods, the first fraction base stock viscosity index is less than the hydrocarbon feedstock viscosity index and the second fraction base stock viscosity index is greater than the hydrocarbon feedstock viscosity index.

Abstract: Contactor structures are provided that can allow for improved heat management while reducing or minimizing the potential for contamination of process gas streams with heat transfer fluids. The contactor structures can include one or more sets of flow channels for process gas flows, such as gas flows introduced to allow adsorption of components from a gas stream or gas flows introduced to facilitate desorption of previously adsorbed components into a purge gas stream. The process gas flow channels can correspond to flow channels defined by a structural material of unitary structure. The unitary structure can correspond to the entire contactor, or the unitary structure can correspond to a monolith that forms a portion of the contactor. The contactor structures can also include one or more sets of flow channels for heat transfer fluids. The heat transfer flow channels can also be defined by the structural material of a unitary structure.

Abstract: Molten carbonate fuel cells (MCFCs) are operated at elevated pressure to provide increased operating voltage and/or enhanced CO2 utilization with a cathode input stream having a low CO2 content. It has been discovered that increasing the operating pressure of a molten carbonate fuel cell when using a low CO2-content cathode input stream can provide unexpectedly large increases in operating voltage while also reducing or minimizing the amount of alternative ion transport and/or enhancing CO2 utilization.

Abstract: Kerosene boiling range or jet fuel boiling range compositions are provided that are formed from crude oils with unexpected combinations of high naphthenes to aromatics weight and/or volume ratio and a low sulfur content. The resulting kerosene boiling range fractions can have an unexpected combination of a high naphthenes to aromatics weight ratio, a low but substantial aromatics content, and a low sulfur content. Such fractions can potentially be used as fuel after a reduced or minimized amount of additional refinery processing. By reducing, minimizing, or avoiding the amount of refinery processing needed to meet fuel and/or fuel blending product specifications, the fractions derived from the high naphthenes to aromatics ratio and low sulfur crudes can provide fuels and/or fuel blending products having a reduced or minimized carbon intensity.
