Abstract:
A flexible band tunable filter design is disclosed which is capable of selecting any single channel or multiple of adjacent channels in a waveband of an optical signal in an optical communication network. The flexible band tunable filter has particular application in wavelength division multiplexing communication networks.
Abstract:
A detection system and method are disclosed which uses sequential Monte Carlo techniques in a multiple-input multiple-output system. The detection system and method samples a first and second component of the modulation symbols separately, thereby reducing the number of symbol candidates and the computational complexity of the system.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for data analysis and trend prediction. Multiple networks are combined for analysis to improve the accuracy of the evaluation by broadening the type of criteria considered. Relevant features are extracted from a dataset and at least one network is formed representing various relationships identified among the items contained in the dataset according to heuristics. Statistical analyses are applied to the relationships and the results output to a user via one or more reports to permit a user to evaluate each of the items in the dataset relative to each other. The trend of the relationships may be predicted based on the results of statistical analysis applied to the features over successive discrete time periods.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a content based router, system and method of operation. Upon receipt of a data packet at in ingress router, the ingress router matches the content of the data packet against stored user subscriptions. In one embodiment, the content is described using XML data and the user subscriptions are defined by XML queries. The router assigns a routing label to the data packet based on the matching, and transmits the data packet to a second network router. Intermediate routers along the packets path then use the assigned label in combination with stored routing tables in order to determine next hop routing. Upon receipt at an egress router, the content of the message is matched against user subscriptions for those users serviced by the egress router, and the egress router provides the data packet to those end users whose subscriptions match the content. The assigned routing labels may define routing paths or routing trees.

Abstract:
An efficient approach for SAT-based quantifier elimination and pre-image computation using unrolled designs that significantly improves the performance of pre-image and fix-point computation in SAT-based unbounded symbolic model checking.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to mechanisms for improving the “crawling” of resources on a network, which takes into account the notion of browser state. An improved indexing scheme for the crawled results and improved search mechanisms are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Self-assembled photonic crystals, including large sphere planar opals, infiltrated planar opals and inverted planar opals, as well as methods for manufacturing same are provided. Large sphere planar opals are manufactured according to a method comprising the steps of: synthesizing monodisperse silica spheres, wherein each of the silica spheres has a diameter greater than or equal to about 400 nanometers; purifying the silica spheres; and self-assembling the silica spheres into a plurality of ordered, planar layers on a substrate. Infiltrated planar opals may also be manufactured by further processing the large sphere planar opal by sintering the planar opal and infiltrating the planar opal with a predetermined material. Inverted planar opals may further be manufactured by removing the silica spheres from the infiltrated planar opal. Various modifications to the substrate and planar opal are also provided to enhance the properties of these photonic crystals.
