In another example, a method for loading cargo on to an aircraft comprises loading cargo into a fuselage of the aircraft through an upper forward portion of the fuselage.

    Abstract: A navigation system for an aircraft includes a light source, a light sensor, one or more processors, and a computer readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the navigation system to perform functions. The functions include illuminating a surface using the light source to cause light to be reflected from the surface and detecting the light and generating data representing the light using the light sensor. The data maps intensities of the light to respective positions on the surface. The functions further include identifying within the data a subset of the data that corresponds to a border and causing navigation of the aircraft based on a position of the border indicated by the subset of the data.

    Abstract: A method, an apparatus, system, and computer program product for navigating an aircraft. Information indicative of a result of a scan of an environment around the aircraft is received by a computer system for landmarks. Bearings of the landmarks and locations of the landmarks are determined by the computer system. A current position of the aircraft is estimated by the computer system using the bearings of the landmarks and the locations of the landmarks. A set of actions to be performed is determined to guide the aircraft based on the current position of the aircraft is performed by the computer system.

    Abstract: In an example, a method of generating flight paths for navigating an aircraft is provided. The method includes hovering the aircraft at a predetermined hover point. The predetermined hover point corresponds to a first takeoff waypoint of a first trajectory of the aircraft. The method includes scanning at least a portion of a first flight path of the first trajectory. The method includes determining that an obstacle obstructs the first flight path of the first trajectory. The first flight path begins at the first takeoff waypoint. The method includes determining a second takeoff waypoint. Determining the second takeoff waypoint includes assigning the first flight path to begin at the second takeoff waypoint. The method includes changing the first flight path of the first trajectory in accordance with the second takeoff waypoint, thereby forming a second flight path of a second trajectory. The method includes causing the aircraft to follow the second flight path of the second trajectory from the second takeoff waypoint.

    Abstract: Provided herein are systems to allow an operator to sense, for example, distance of a component from a component connector. The systems include a transmitter associated with the component connector, and a feedback device operable to contact the operator. The feedback device comprises a receiver operable to receive signals transmitted by the transmitter, and an actuator operable to provide haptic feedback to the operator in which, for example, strength, manner, or strength and manner of actuation of the actuator is determined by strength of the signals received by the receiver. Typically, the systems further allow the operator to engage the component to the component connector. Other aspects of the present disclosure provide various methods of allowing an operator to sense, for example, distance of a component from a component connector and to related computer readable media.
