    Abstract: Method, source array and seismic vibro-acoustic source element for seismic data acquisition. The method includes storing in a controller a library of beam form factor sets associated with a source array and corresponding regions to be surveyed; towing the source array along survey lines over the regions to be surveyed; selecting a beam form factor set from the library to be applied to the source array for each region; and actuating the source array based on the selected set of beam form factors and a position of the source array relative to the regions. Each set of beam form factors maps to a corresponding region of an area to be surveyed.

    Abstract: Modeling an elastic stiffness tensor in a transverse isotropic subsurface medium acquires well log data for at least one well passing through the transverse isotropic subsurface medium. The transverse isotropic subsurface medium is divided into an effective anisotropic layer and an isotropic layer. The effective anisotropic layer elastic parameters are modeled, and the isotropic layer elastic parameters are modeled using the effective anisotropic layer elastic parameters and the acquired well log data. The modeled effective anisotropic layer elastic parameters and the modeled isotropic layer elastic parameters are used to upscale the effective anisotropic layer and the isotropic layer into the transverse isotropic subsurface medium comprising a single layer and to determine the five members of the elastic stiffness tensor for the transverse isotropic subsurface medium.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system and method for building a velocity model for a geographical area of interest (GAI). The system and method comprise determining a ray based tomography velocity image of said GAI using acquired data, determining a high resolution velocity guide (HRVG) image of said GAI, scaling said determined HRVG of said GAI, adding the scaled HRVG to the ray based tomography velocity image to determine an updated ray based tomography velocity image, and determining whether said updated ray based tomography velocity image has experienced convergence by determining whether a cost function of said ray based tomography velocity image does not improve compared to a previously determined cost function value of said ray based tomography velocity image.

    Abstract: There is a method for correcting seismic wave propagation paths through the earth. The method includes determining a first fixed shooting sequence for a first bandlimited seismic source; determining a second shooting sequence for a second bandlimited seismic source, wherein the second shooting sequence includes second shooting positions that correspond to second energy emissions, and the second energy emissions differ from the first energy emissions in at least one of an emission time, phase and amplitude; receiving raw seismic data recorded with seismic receivers and generated as a result of the first and second energy emissions, wherein the raw seismic data is indicative of seismic wave paths from the first and second bandlimited seismic sources to the seismic receivers; separating the raw seismic data into a first bandlimited set corresponding to the first bandlimited seismic source and a second bandlimited set corresponding to the second bandlimited seismic source; and correcting the seismic wave paths, from the first and second bandlimited seismic sources to the seismic receivers, based on at least one of the first and second bandlimited sets.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for acquiring blended and unblended seismic data during a single seismic survey. The blended and unblended seismic data is generated with a plurality of sources that are fired in a dedicated sequence. The sequence involves firing all the sources at a first time, advancing the sources along a given path, firing only a first source at a second time, later than the first time, advancing the sources, firing again all the sources at a third time, later than the second time, advancing the sources, firing only a second source at a fourth time, later than the third time, and so on until a desired subsurface is fully surveyed.
