Abstract:
This invention relates to a portable shelter or tent enclosure having a self supporting frame structure that may be pivotally erected and collapsed for supporting a fabric cover. The frame comprises at least three substantially U-shaped frame members which are linked at the ends of each of the parallel side arms remote the top of the U at about a common point. At least two of the three frame members are braceable in an angularly spaced apart position by segments comprising a pair of laterally braced parallelograms pivotally linked to the pairs of side arms. The frame structure has a removably securable horizontal frame brace that is easily connected to and removed from the top of the laterally braced parallelogram of the frame and includes arms extending angularly downwardly to the side from the brace to the parallel side arms forming the base of the laterally braced parallelogram thereby providing an effective lateral brace to the frame.
Abstract:
An inductive power system including an inductive power transmitter coupled to a non-conductive medium, and a power cord that electrically couples the transmitter to an AC power source. The inductive power transmitter is configured to emit an electromagnetic field based on the received AC power. There is an inductive power receiver coupled to the non-conductive medium and separated from the transmitter, wherein the receiver is configured to receive the electromagnetic field after it has passed through the non-conductive medium and in response develop power. A power cord electrically couples the developed power to a power sink.

Abstract:
Performance of a new system may be optimized to run a legacy application written for a legacy system. Performance information for the legacy application is recorded or derived while running the legacy application on the new system. Performance characteristics for the legacy application running on the new system are determined by analyzing the performance information. The performance characteristics include one or more key performance metrics and other performance information. The key performance metrics must be met when the legacy application is run on the new system. The other performance information is useful for adjusting one or more operating parameters of the new system when running the legacy application on the new system. The one or more operating parameters are adjusted so that the one or more key performance metrics are met.
Abstract:
Architecture that uses content from off-page data sources such as feeds (e.g., yellow pages, coupons, social networks, commerce, etc.) to present additional, relevant information in association with search results. The additional and relevant information is directly relevant to the implicit task the user is trying to accomplish. The architecture includes online and offline mechanisms that identify an entity represented on a web page and look-up information related to that entity in disparate data sources. Relevance heuristics are employed to determine which of the available entity data to show in the caption given the user query, the web page, and the underlying user task (other known information about the user such as geographic location).
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to isolated nucleic acid molecules and polypeptides of thraustochytrid polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) synthases involved in the production of PUFAs, including PUFAs enriched in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), or a combination thereof. The present invention is directed to vectors and host cells comprising the nucleic acid molecules, polypeptides encoded by the nucleic acid molecules, compositions comprising the nucleic acid molecules or polypeptides, and methods of making and uses thereof.
Abstract:
An adjustable height jib is disclosed for an arm of a hook-lift hoist for loading of equipment, containers or the like onto a truck for transport. The jib has an elongate body with a hook located on each of its opposing end portions. The jib is mounted on the arm for pivotal movement between a first position for loading containers of a first height and a second position for loading containers of a second height. A lock secures the jib in either position. A feature of the adjustable height jib is that, upon release of the lock, it will pivot between a longer position as the hook-lift hoist is operated toward the loading position and a shorter position as the hook lift hoist is operated toward the transport position.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for decision feedback equalization with dithered updating are disclosed. An example method to equalize a received signal sample representative of a digital quantity disclosed herein comprises selecting a slicing level from a plurality of slicing levels to detect the digital quantity represented by the received signal sample, and deciding whether to update the selected slicing level based on whether a previously determined pseudorandom number of signal samples were received before receipt of the received signal sample and after a previous slicing level update.
Abstract:
A security system for constraining the degree to which a closure leaf such as a door may be opened of the type has an inoperative position in which it does not block the opening and closing of the closure leaf, and an operative position in which it does so block the opening of the closure leaf beyond a predetermined constrained degree. The system is selectively activatable for effecting movement between said inoperative and said operative position. The improvement provides for the provision of an electric actuator which includes a motor having a rotatable output shaft, an arm operating in response to movement of the output shaft of the actuator, whereby the actuator drives the arm both into and out of the operative position; and at least a portion of the arm when in the operative position is moved into a position where the arm acts as a barrier to the door leaf being opened beyond a predetermined degree.
